Habiba's POV:

"Mom, why are you walking backwards?"

"Mom!" I screamed out of sleep.

Realizing I just had a nightmare, I took a deep breath relaxing my terrified nerves as sweat dripped all over my face despite the Aircon being on.

"That was one scary dream!" I mumbled wiping off my sweat.

I tried to remember what occurred in the dream, but it was in vain; all I could recall was Mom staggering towards an open grave.

My heart was pounding hard as if it was going to explode.

The fridge in the room became of help as I grabbed a bottle of water gulping it till the bottle was empty.

"Dear God, please protect my mom from any sort of danger, keep her safe and alive."

"Is this a sign that she's not okay? I should speak to her." I mumbled.

"But I need a phone, where do I get one?" I began to pace around the room searching for ideas on how to contact Mom.

Biting my nails and pacing up and down wouldn't get me a phone, so I decided to seek assistance from the only person I knew would help.

"I have her number, I just need Amina's phone."

Soon, I began to wander around searching for Amina; a few minutes passed, and I was still stranded...

"Where am I supposed to find her in this huge house?" I whispered peeking at every room, which was either empty or locked.

On my way out of the last room, I stumbled into someone.

Why did it have to be her? I thought avoiding her furious gaze.

"I'm sorry."

The last thing I wanted was to get involved with her, and most especially not in this manner.

Her thunderous voice scares me.

"Are you blind or what?" She yells attracting the attention of the maid around.

"I'm sorry." I sighed wishing the ground would open up, swallow me and protect me from her wrath.

"You're sorry?" she scoffed.

"I'm sorry, please forgive me," I repeated fixing my gaze on the floor.

"You're just as stupid as your apology," she says with so much anger.

"Please, don't be offended, it was a mistake."

"Now I know why your mother happily gave you away, do you want to know the reason?" She smirks.

"Huh!" I raise my gaze to look at her.

"I will tell you, it's because you're nothing but a pain in the neck and a burden to everyone, and not only are you a burden, you're also a low birth." She said with disgust.

A disgust, low birth, and a pain in the neck? Her words were too harsh to digest.

I could see so much hatred displayed in her eyes.

She hates me, she is the exact copy of "In-laws" in those tales...

"How dare you!" A voice snaps from behind.

Grandma had a bitter expression as she walked towards us, I could feel the tension rising in both of them as they faced each other.

"Who are you to call her a low birth? It was just a polite mistake, you didn't have to unleash that sneaky tongue of yours." Grandma frowned.
