Habiba's POV:
I got into the car to meet him seated with crossed legs reading some files I had no idea what they were about.
A few seconds passed, and I was expecting him to say something, but he didn't; he just continued to do what he was doing.
"As-salam," I said, wanting to break the silence, but he never responded; he acted like I wasn't even in the same car with him.
"No response?" I say again, staring directly at him; as usual, his cold attitude is all I received as a reply.
"You shouldn't have come to pick me up then; you should have remained in your office," I muttered feeling annoyed as I plugging in my Air pods.
The recitation of the Quran playing in my ears helped to ward off my annoyance.
His actions won't affect me anymore, I have gotten used to him by now. I thought as the driver suddenly stopped.
"Why did you stop?" That was when he finally spoke.
"Sorry sir, but I think we ran out of gas." The driver replied.
"What? Didn't you check before picking the car out?"
"Sorry, sir." He mutters.
"Then go look for the closest gas station and get some instead of apologizing!" He growled.
"Sorry... sir, I will go now, I did see a gas station." The driver trembled while he ran out, and I pitied him.
The driver is an elderly man, can't he speak softly to him?
"Musa?!" He calls.
"Yes sir?" His PA replied.
"How much time do I have left?"
"An hour to go, sir." His PA replied in his typical deep Hausa accent that rang into my ears.
"Oh God!" Najib sighed judging from his face, he was anxious.
"Why did you come to fetch me when You know you will be busy?" I asked after giving it a thought.
"Musa, Excuse us." He said to him before turning to face me.
"Sure sir."
"Read this." He said while he handed me his phone.
It was Abdul's message.
She's stuck at school please pick her up. She's had a troubled day.
"That's why I came to fetch you,
so don't think I left my office rushing to pick you or please you." He sneered while taking his phone back."I know you're beyond pleasing me; and that's you shouldn't have come then; you should have ignored the message."
"I'm not inconsiderate as you think, I know my duty towards you!" He snaps which made me surprised.
"No, you aren't, but your friend is, and I'm glad that at least someone genuinely cares about my farewell, for him to have informed you about my condition."
"Why won't you be glad? Your so-called boyfriend cares about your farewell after all."
"Yes, and I'm glad your mistress allowed you to pick me up or did you sneak off behind her back?" I smirked at his face.
I won't let you irritate me. I smiled at his face which was curling up in anger.
"I don't need to go behind her back to do things!"
One could see him already boiling in anger and it felt good, I will make sure I step on his ego.
"Oh you do, coz you are nothing but a weakling in front of her, anytime she's around you, you seem to act like her puppet, always doing what she says."
