Habiba's POV:

"Malam Audu!" I yelled knocking on my neighbor's door.

The only man around who owns a car.

"Who is knocking on my door at this late hour?" He yells back.

Once he opens the door, he was completely shocked to see me.

"Habiba! You? When did you return?"

"Malam Audu, please help me, my mother is sick, she's vomiting blood." I fell to my knees crying for his assistance.

"Hasbunalah! Get up, go and get her while I get my car."

"Murja!" He calls his oldest daughter.

"Na'am baba." She replies running out.

"Escort her to fetch her mother, I will warm on the car engine.

"Thanks, mallam, I appreciate it."

Subsequently, Mallam Audu, his daughter, mom, and I were now riding to the hospital.

The car was very slow but I couldn't complain, after all, it was a very old taxi car. As we rode along, the car vibrated vigorously.

All I could do is observe my unconscious mother, severally I'd checked her pulse, making sure she was still breathing.

Murja severally consoled me to stop crying.

But how could I stop when my mom was on the verge of dying, she was turning ice cold...

Soon we got to the general hospital, the hospital was crowded with injured patients, I guess an accident occurred somewhere, every nurse we tried to reach out to insisted we wait in line...

"Wait in line and watch my mother in this grave condition?!"

"Are they blind? Can't they see her unconscious, her cloth stained with blood. No, I won't wait Murja, I have to convince them."

"Habiba, they won't listen." She says.

"I'll make them, please look after her for me." I say heading towards the reception nurse.

"Nurse please attend to us we need to see the doctor."

"Miss, don't be selfish, can't you see there're people before you, I need to attend to them first so patiently wait for your turn."

"Nurse this is an emergency case, My mom is on medication, she is ill, just now she was vomiting blood, I request you to check her." I pleaded but the nurse still had the "NO" look.

Murja approached me, dragging me away.

"Habiba these nurses are cruel they won't attend to you, but assuming we were people of the upper class they won't hesitate to attend to us."

"Upper class? So there's no longer humanity?!" I snapped.

"Fine, I will handle it." I sighed returning to the nurse she hissed ignoring my presence but once I stretch out my hand to her she immediately smiled.

"What if I give you this, will you attend to her?" I sighed showing her my gold pendant.

I never planned to take it off, not ever, it was my birthday gift from Najib that I'd promised to treasure forever but at the moment saving my mother was my top priority.

"It's pure gold, check it yourself." I removed it placing it in her palm.

She looked surprised as she examines it closely.

"This will make a lot of money." She smiled.

"Now can I have my mother treated?"

"Nurse Hauwa, bring the stretcher." She calls.
