Habiba's Pov:
The sky was completely dark when I woke from a second round of sleep, and still, there was no glimpse of Najib.
Checking his location to see where he was, I found his location still at Milestones Hotel.
"What is he still doing there by this time? Does he plan to stay out tonight?" I sighed.
But suddenly his location was nullified.
"What happened? Why did it disconnect?" I pondered trying to track his location again but I could not.
I became uneasy while I bit on my nail trying to figure out what to do.
"But Habiba, he isn't a kid; why do you bother?" A voice whispered.
"I know, right? He is a full-grown man, but what could he be doing all this while with a lady at a hotel?"
Is it because Grandma isn't around? Does he plan to sleep out? I kept thinking as much as I didn't want to.
But the thought of Zaitun likely being with him by this time only increased my worry.
"Or could he be hosting an official meeting there at the hotel, after all, he hosts lots of events...
"Let me check on Zaitun; hopefully, if she's around, that might relieve me." I sighed.
Precisely, I was scared to leave my room; what if I ran into my mother-in-law?
Just visualizing her yelling at me already gives me bad goosebumps.
Unfortunately, I was surrounded by my enemies; who would bail me out of their clutches? Grandma and Amina aren't around.
"I should check; nothing will happen," I affirmed, burying my fear; I gathered my confidence to go.
The hallway was so quiet that the sound of a pin that drops would be heard.
They say the people in a house are what makes it a home, and today I felt that I felt homesick even though I was at home.
"God please." I clasped my palms in prayer.
Just the thought of her hard gaze crept me out as I walked past her room.
"Please don't let me run into her, I can't deal with her scoldings right now," I murmured.
Zaitun's room was a few walks away from my room, she was two rooms away from mine, but out of the blue, she decided to move out to the guest room.
I need to clear my head, If Zaitun is not at home as well, then that will only mean they are still together...
The thought of them together strikes a chord in my heart.
And just as I reached for her doorknob, her door suddenly opened.
And the last thing I wanted to happen, eventually happened.
Mother-in-law's hard gaze fell on me while Zaitun stood behind her with a look of "What are you doing here?"
"Why are you here?" Zaitun asks with a nasty glare.
"Hmm... I just stared at them searching for the best reply that won't put me in more trouble.
"Are we speaking to a wall? She asked you a question, or have you suddenly turned deaf?" Mother-in-law said while she stepped closer, I moved back.
"Hmm, I came to check up on you." I smiled.
"Check up on me? For what?"
"I wanted to check if you're around because Grandma entrusted the house responsibility to me, so I wanted to ask the gatekeeper to shut the gate, but I needed to confirm if you're home before doing that."
