Habiba's POV:

I'd slept and woken up for the third time now and yet the sky was dark and we were still on the road, without having an idea of what the time said, I couldn't tell for how many hours I squeezed myself on the seat I paid eight thousand naira for.

I wasn't expecting the driver to heed Jamila's word when she warned him not to inconvenience me on our way but he did by making sure to fill every inch of space in the bus by carrying every passenger he sees on the road.

I was becoming nauseous due to the foul smell that consumed the air, the combination of sweaty armpits  and perfume combined felt like torture.

I had to turn my head towards the window inhaling fresh air and that's how I was able to get rid of the foul odor and my nauseousness.

With time, I'd slept again thanks to the cool breeze fanning my eyes, and by the time I'd woken up, the sky had become clear that I could see white birds designing the sky, they form a triangle shape flying in groups.

"Take this." The man seated next to me passed me a bottle of water.

I stared at the water for a while before I said no to him.

But he insists on dropping it in my hands.

"Have some water, the bus stopped at a food joint but you were asleep so I thought to get you at least
water, it's not poisoned." He smiled.

"Oh, I didn't mean that...

"Yeah, I know the saying don't collect things from strangers." He chuckled.

"Thanks, but I meant to say I have mine also." I sighed showing him my bottle.

Aunty made sure to package all I would need from water to snacks and also food, I just didn't have an appetite, majorly because I had the fear that I might throw up, I was able to subside my nauseousness earlier but I don't think I'll be able to do that when it comes again.

"Okay, fully prepared, but still keep it with you, it might be useful." He smiled.

"Sure thanks, do you have an idea of what the time says?"

"It's just 8 am." He replies tapping his Android screen.

"8 am, that's fast."

"You think so because you snored throughout the trip."

"Really! Was I loud?" I gasped staring around, I was embarrassed.

"No, of course, I was joking." He laughs.

"You slept soundly that despite stopping at two food joints, you were still asleep."

"Wow!" I sighed.

"Yeah, but we have 4 hours before we enter Lagos, we will get there in the afternoon."

"And how can you tell?" I asked.

"Hmm! Have been on several night bus  from Lagos to Kano that I could estimate the time now bet me on this." He smiled.

"Wow, You're experienced at taking long trips that's why you don't sound tired."

"Yeah, it has become routine due to balancing family life and work life." He sighed.

"That's stressful but thoughtful of you." I smiled.

"Yeah...

And that's how our conversation led to another keeping us busy till our 4 hours exhausted.

Just as he said, I'd arrived in Lagos at noon.

"Before we part ways can you do me a favor?" I sighed.

"Yes, anything."

"Can you lend me your phone? I need to contact my family."
