Chapter 8: His aura was too strong.

His aura was too strong. He only said two words and the second wife timidly let go of his bowl and took a step back. She was still unwilling, "You can't forget that you hit your second brother. You have to pay for his medical expenses."

Ji Hongjun didn't even give her a look and replied in four words, "I didn't hit him."

The second wife was dissatisfied and argued loudly, "Who said you didn't beat him? Your second brother said you did it last night."

Ji Hongjun finally looked at her with sharp eyes, "Last night, I only beat a thief."

He turned to Ji Hongxing, "Is that thief second brother?" and waited for an answer.

Ji Hongxin didn't dare to admit it. Ji Hongjun came off too strong, and he couldn't even look into his eyes. He dragged his wife to leave.

His wife didn't listen to him, though. In her opinion, her husband was beaten by Ji Hongjun, so he had to pay for the medical expenses. She shook off his arm, "Ji Hongxing, let me go! The fourth beat you so I won't leave unless he gives me an explanation. If he doesn't pay the medical expenses, I'll go to the commune to sue him."

Her voice was loud. She probably wanted others to know about Ji Hongjun's beating. The people in the Ji family were shocked and it made Mother Ji and her eldest son run over.

Liang Huan frowned, and quickly drank the last bite of porridge, before putting the bowl away. She looked at Ji Hongxing.

She thought of the scream she heard last night, which should've been him. If he came to their house last night to steal, then what did he want to rob? There's nothing in their house, only her life-saving food and five yuan.

Money can't be in the side room, so it could only be for food. Did he come yesterday to steal their last bit of food?

He came to steal something necessary for her to live. When Liang Huan thought of this, her eyes went cold. She looked over to Ji Hongxing, "It turned out that the second brother was the thief last night. I lost the five yuan I got yesterday. I was preparing to go to the commune to make a report, but since the thief is my second brother, then I'll get the money back."

Ji Hongxing blushed and looked at Liang Huan, "Why are you framing people? I didn't steal your money and I'm not a thief."

"Does the second brother want to lie? Sister-in-law said Hongjun hit you last night. Yesterday, Hongjun only beat a thief, so who are you? The five yuan you stole is the only money left in our family. If you don't give it back, I'll go to the commune to report you."

People in this era are most afraid of being criticized. Being reported as a thief could make him be paraded and sent to labor reform...

Ji Hongxing usually fights a lot with the people in the cowshed. The thought of others throwing cow dung on him... He can't stand that kind of life.

He was so scared, he dragged his wife and ran out, "What are you saying? I fell last night and got injured, it wasn't because of Hongjun. Hurry up and follow me back."

Ji Hongxing dragged his wife away, but Mother Ji, who just came, was unwilling to let it go. She pointed at Ji Hongjun, "Hongjun, you can't beat your brother like this. You have to compensate him five yuan for medical expenses and take him to the barefoot doctor to get medicine."

Liang Huan's heart is dry now. When she sees Mother Ji, she wants to find a stick. Why doesn't she change? She always wants to find trouble with their house.

She was annoyed, and she looked at her coldly. She wanted to see how Ji Hongjun would deal with her.

Ji Hongjun was much calmer. He stood up to wash the two bowls. He didn't even look up, "He said I didn't hit him."
