The only thing that life gives me a hard time when it gives me a gift and a little bit of a curse. A gift for giving me strength, hope, and teaching me love, and a curse where the process of loving her is all against it.

I never meant to fall for my woman, Zendall. My doll. I still remember how our first encounter began.

"Tangina naman." I heard Jake cursing in the middle of his training. He was with his batch.

"Did you say something, Mr. Montenor?" I asked him coldly.

He looked up at me, then smiled like a maniac. This man has the nerve to tease me in the middle of his training.

I wish he would find his opponent. Pinsan ko siya sa side ni Mommy. He is younger than me.

"Huh-uh. Wala akong sinabi. Si Emphraim ata yung narinig mo!" He exclaimed.

Napailing ako sa kanya. The boys are running, while others are doing push-ups, before we proceed to our actual training at the port.

"50 more push-ups, Jake," I said to him, which made his eyes wider.

"What?!"

Umalis na ako.

I want to smirk at him as his friend, but I'm his senior. I need to do my responsibilities. Not because he is my friend, that doesn't mean there are no boundaries between us. I set rules between friends and colleagues.

"Where the hell is Servin?" Tanong ko sa mga freshmen.

Walang imik at tahimik ang nagsi-iwa; sila'y nag-iwas ng tingin. That's why I hate it here. They don't have the confidence, unlike Manila. I usually study abroad, but I love playing games that my parents punish me for. Nagbabakasyon ako sa Manila, pero hindi na nila ako pinayagan.

Why would my parents even send me here anyway? Cebu is far from Manila. Girls here are boring. Buti napilit ko sina Jake at Emphraim na sumama sa akin sa Cebu.

My father wants me to study here for unknown reasons. Pumayag na ako dahil ayaw ko na ring magtagal sa bahay namin. I don't like being encountered with those two girls in our family. My mom and sister, Aera.

The boys are lined up in front of me. Before I had the authority to talk again, I saw Servin half running in my direction.

"Sorry cap, natagalan!"

I didn't pay attention to him. Agad kong kinuha yung nilahad niyang tubig na pinabili ko sa kanya. Natapos ako at tiningnan ko siya nang malamig.

I saw him gulp.

"May nakita kasi ako, Captain." Kamot batok na sabi niya.

Magsasalita sana siya, pero pinigilan ko siya. Sinenyasan na umalis nalang sa harap ko at magpatuloy sa training. Marami kaming pinapagawa sa kanila hanggang sa bumigay na ang katawan nila.

I dismiss them after their training.

"Totoo 'yon. That lucky guy really hooked a goddess of beauty. Narinig ko kay Servin na may kasama yung jowa ni Darwin. Kaya nga  nagmamadali kanina para sumama kay Darwin."

I heard Jay laugh a bit.

"Gago talaga yun."

"Ayieeeee."
