"Long time no see, Mr. Candelanza."
It was Servin. The years had changed him. He looked more mature now. More refined. More responsible. Mukhang naging matino na rin siya base pa lang sa hitsura niya ngayon.
Gone was the carefree college student I used to see hanging around the campus. Now, standing in front of me was an official Marine Engineer. Judging by his uniform and appearance, mukhang kakadaong lang ng barkong sinasakyan nila mula sa ibang bansa.
"Bro, tama nga ako kanina!" excited na sabi ni Mr. Ignacio, "That's why she looked familiar, because it's really her!"
Both of them looked genuinely happy to see me. Servin's eyes traveled from head to toe as if trying to confirm that I was really the same person he knew years ago.
Meanwhile, his friend looked like he had just won the lottery. There were only two of them. The same two people I used to see hanging around with Adam during college days kahit may klase pa.
It had really been a long time. Hindi ko na sila nakita matapos akong tumambay sa department nila noon.
"Wait..." napakunot-noo si Miss Montemayor. "Magkakilala kayo?"
"College," Maikli Kong sagot.
"Oh, how? I mean, wow!" Bigla siyang napangiti. "That's great! What if isama ko kayo, Mateo at Servin, sa ginagawa namin? Para magkaroon din kayo ng idea sa designing process ng port!"
Nanlaki agad ang mata ni Servin. The reaction was almost comical. I wasn't sure if he even knew that I never finished my studies in CIT. Then again, I didn't really care. Whatever happened after I left was none of my business anymore.
"What?" Halos mapasigaw siya. "Siya ang major architect ng port? What?!" Manghang-mangha ang tono niya.
Honestly, I wasn't sure whether I should take that as a compliment or an insult.
"Yes!" Masayang sagot ni Miss Montemayor. "Kahit nga ako ay hindi makapaniwala noong una na siya ang pinadala ni Sir Gazvin."
She looked at me proudly.
"She's a famous international inside the richest. Pinag-aagawan siya ng malalaking kumpanya. People are eager to catch her attention and recruit her for their projects." Ngumiti siya. "Buti na lang sa akin siya napunta."
Then she looked at the two engineers.
"So? Sasama ba kayo?"
"Sure!" mabilis na sagot ni Servin. "Gusto ko 'yan. Para naman makapag-catch up kami ni Architect. Ang tagal na naming hindi nagkikita."
Mr. Candelanza flashed me a bright smile. I smiled back. Why not?
