The day was more than hectic for Yeji and Yoona, but they were done with it and still had energy left as they exited the university campus. They had already told Jungkook not to wait for them that day and he had frowned.

Clutching the bags in their hands, they both walked to the graveyard in fast footsteps. It wasn't truly near the university area, but just for that day they wanted to walk, an activity Hyunjin always enjoyed doing.

As they entered the graveyard, Yeji already felt her breath hitch and Yoona blinked her tears away, his death still being something which made them cry even after three years.

"Oppa, happy birthday, how have you been?" Yeji cried, putting the bag in her hand on top of her older brother's graveyard before caressing it lightly.

"Happy birthday Jinnie, I missed you" Yoona said, letting a few tears slide down her cheeks before wiping them and smiling lightly.

FLASHBACK TO 3 YEARS AGO:

Yoona and Yeji rushed here and there around Yeji's house, doing the last touch-ups to the decorations for Hyunjin's birthday. A cake was put neatly on the table, a few birthday gifts wrapped up prettily on its side.

Both the best friends were wearing their best clothes and were dying of excitement for the birthday of their most important boy.

Yeji excited for her brother, and Yoona excited for her boyfriend.

Even though the three knew each other since they were kids and Yeji and Yoona always being the besties of the trio, at some point Yoona started to see Hyunjin a little differently. And she was more than lucky because her feelings were mutual.

"I think we're done now" Yeji smiled, clapping her hands in excitement as she sat down.

"Now the only thing left is to wait for our prince" Yoona smiled, sitting beside Yeji to hold her hands.

Right that moment, Yeji's phone rang and she picked it up without paying much attention to the caller's ID.

And her expression dropped.

"In which hospital is he?"

END OF FLASHBACK

They smiled sweetly at the tomb, imagining Hyunjin smiling back at them instead. Even though that was his death's anniversary as well, both the girls had decided to only celebrate his birthday and not mourn his death, as this was what their bright boy would have wanted.

"We brought you gifts today as well, hopefully you'll like it" Yoona said with a smile, opening her bag slightly to take the set of paintbrushes out and showing it to the grave.

"I heard these were a hot topic among painters, so I rushed to find a set for you" she grinned.

"I brought something as well" Yeji smiled, taking the ink set out of her own bag, and showing it to the grave.

"I bought this in a famous art studio, hopefully you'll like it" Yeji grinned.

They imagined the boy smiling at them and accepting them happily.

They both got up, bidding their goodbye before hiding somewhere near the grave.

After a few minutes, they heard a few rustles and a cute little girl appeared in their peripheral vision, stopping right at Hyunjin's grave and inspecting the bags with gifts carefully.

"Oppa, would you mind if I took these?" she asked innocently, batting her eyelashes at the lifeless grave as if talking to an actual person.

Both the girls looking from afar smiled dearly at the little girl and imagined Hyunjin doing the same. Than the girl smiled at the grave, wished him a happy birthday and then left together with the bags.

"She sure grew up a lot since last year" Yeji chuckled, getting up from their hiding spot and walking away with Yoona following close on her tail.

They were now familiar with the little girl who would take the gifts they bought for Hyunjin every birthday and now they bought it knowing that in the end it wouldn't go to waste on top of a grave but it would be used by a young passionate soul instead.

They walked for a while until they had to part ways so each of them could go to their respective home.

"Is Jungkook already home?" Yeji asked Yoona with a shy smile while hugging her goodbye.

"He said he'll directly go home and cook something for lunch, so probably he is. Wanna come?" Yoona smirked, and then burst to laughter when she noticed Yeji blush.

"No no no, I'm not coming!!!" Yeji screamed, running off without even telling her bestie goodbye.

"Gosh, this girl is so obvious, I bet Kookie already has noticed she has something for him yet when I ask her whether she wants me to set her up with him she gets all shy and doesn't know what to say...ugh this girl" Yoona grumbled, turning her back and going home.

As she entered home, the smell of delicious food filled her nostrils and just like a dog, she sniffed her way to the kitchen, being met with Jungkook's broad back which was turned to her as he was still cooking.

"Hey Kookie, what are you doing?" she asked, hugging him from behind yet he didn't respond at all.

"Why are you moody? Did something happen at uni today?" Yoona asked worriedly, not used to her brother not responding her greeting.

"Nothing happened at uni today, calm down" he dryly said.

Yoona frowned. She knew he would never lie to her, but other than at uni, what could have happened to get him sad and grumpy?

Something tinged at the back of her mind, but she refused to believe it.

Okay, I know he was never fond of Hyunjin, but he wouldn't be upset because I 'celebrated' his birthday today, right?

As she entered the bathroom, she slapped her cheeks lightly.

"Stupid Yoona, Jinnie is already dead and Jungkook is not the type to hold grudges that long, and for no reason especially...something must have happened on the way and since he's not telling me, I need to trust him. Let's be a good sister now, shall we?" she smiled to herself in the mirror before going to eat lunch.

Author's note

Hi guys, just a short note because stupid me forgot to mention a single sentence in the beginning of the book:

The ships in this book (like Yeji's crush on Jungkook) or everything else is not related to reality and absolutely not real, this book is a pure work of my imagination and fiction and the characters have no connection to the actual people in real life!

Okay, I just wanted to say this and now I'm done. Bye guys and enjoy 💜
