Yoona quietly hummed a tune to herself as she was walking back home, her body being slightly smelly because of her dancing for quite a while but she was happy to having found a new friend. A skilled dancer one at that.
Being lost in thought, she didn't notice a clumsy boy losing control of his bike and coming towards her.
If she had heard his shouts and moved only a second later, he would have crashed her.
"Watch where you're going yo-" her words were stuck on her throat upon recognizing a familiar face.
"Yoona?"
"Yo, Namjoon" she smiled, totally forgetting the non-so-friendly insults she was about to say. She shook hands with the guy who got off his bike before he caused another incident.
"I highly suggest you go walking to your next destination, wouldn't want a police officer to cause an accident now, would you? You and a bike is a dangerous combination and you know that too" she said with a grin, enjoying teasing the older. The latter only sighed in response.
"How's work going?" Yoona asked.
"Mostly good, but your case still remains a mystery. Even after five years, we still have no clue as to who killed your parents" Namjoon said, lips curled upside down as he felt ashamed of himself to not be able to solve that case even after all these years.
Case 143. The mysterious murder of Mr. and Mrs. Jeon, Jungkook and Yoona's parents. No clues, no leads, no evidence, not a single trace. The only case unsolved in Namjoon's whole career even though five years had already passed. And unfortunately for him, the only way for him to get promoted. He had been going in and out of Yoona's house so much that he had ended up becoming friends with the girl.
"Just whenever you get a lead or anything tell me, you have my number. Now I gotta go or else I'll be late for lunch Joon, bye" Yoona said, shaking Namjoon's hand one last time before walking off.
"I have noticed something suspicious though, but I won't tell you until I am completely sure about it" he whispered when she finally was out of his sight.
Yoona kept on walking, totally oblivious. As she finally arrived home, she was more than happy to see her older brother looking better than in the morning, but he still didn't allow her to touch him or go anywhere near him.
They both ate dinner quietly, and Yoona cracked a joke from time to time to make Jungkook smile. She just wanted her strong brother back, and wanted to hug him. That was the way their relationship was built, they couldn't function properly without each other and hugs played an important role too.
Ever since she remembered, Jungkook always was there for her, even more than her own parents. Whenever she felt sad, he was there to listen to her, to hold her while crying and to bring back the smile on her face. Yoona relied on him the most and trusted him with everything, even more than their mom and dad. And the same went for Jungkook. He would tell her his everything, ask her to cover up for him every time he got in trouble, put his head on her lap whenever he needed comfort and she would be there for him. Without hugging each other, they felt incomplete, and that was the case that day too. But for Jungkook, Yoona's health was always a priority, so she wasn't surprised of the fact that whenever he was sick, there was no skinship at all.
Yoona had always tried to ignore the fact, but it was visible Jungkook was the favorite child in the family. Whatever he asked for was bought immediately, whatever food he liked would be cooked whenever he wished for it, even for the smallest scratch on him, both mom and dad were ready to send him to hospital. But that wasn't the case with Yoona. She had to eat whatever food was put in front of her, play with only two tacky dolls her mom had bought to her after a lot of begging, crying and tantrums. Whenever she got sick, dad would go buy random medicine at the pharmacy, and they would always treat her home. Never had they taken her to the hospital for anything rather than that time she had accidentally fallen down the stairs and had broken her arm.
Jungkook had always been there so she wouldn't feel left out. He would share with her the sweets their parents bought especially for him, from time to time, by saving money he would buy pretty dolls for her, and whenever she got sick, he would spend the whole night beside her to take care of her in the best way, sometimes even more than their own parents. And for that Yoona felt forever grateful to him.
As she was reminded of that all, a small smile formed on her lips and her eyes got slightly wet, before she shut them tightly to get rid of the upcoming tears.
Maybe I got a little emotional after I was reminded of mom and dad...
"I met Namjoon today" she said, and Jungkook froze for a moment.
"Where exactly? How come? Was he looking for you?"
"I met him on my way back home. He almost ran me over with his bike. No, he wasn't looking for me, we just happened to run into each other" she said calmly.
"What did he say?" Jungkook asked again.
"Nothing. I asked him whether there were news from the case, but there was nothing. I just reminded him once again to notify me if anything happens" she shrugged, disappointed as to what was so mysterious about the murder of her parents that even after five years the police still hadn't identified the culprit.
"Don't expect much, if they didn't manage to find anything until now, I highly doubt they will later" Jungkook said, picking up his chopsticks again and continuing to eat his meal, letting Yoona know that he didn't want to discuss the topic further. Yoona sighed and got back to eating her food as well.
