Taehyung felt his nerves prickling along his skin as he prepared dinner. He knew that eventually he'd have to come clean to his friends, but for now he had to play the role of a doting boyfriend.

He and y/n had their second date last week, a success in all honesty, but it led to them agreeing to date in order to hold off their friends. No more push for blind dates and no more commentary on their singlehood.

The plan was ridiculous, but it worked for the most part. Y/n got to evade the idea of being matched up with a guy who was hardly worth her time and Tae got to spend time with y/n who he's grown to befriend.

Taehyung had no complaints on his end either since y/n was sweet and the two had a lot in common, particularly their desire to not be settled down in a relationship since their careers took up the majority of their time. Tae tried the whole serious dating thing with his ex-girlfriend and it ended horribly. He remembers how horrible he felt having to cancel on dates time and time again because of work.

Taehyung likes to consider himself fairly considerate to another person's wants and needs, but as a boyfriend, he was not cut out for it. He found it difficult to arrange his schedule to please both himself and a potential partner that in the end, long-term relationships just weren't a priority in his eyes, favoring his career over that entirely.

Aside from that small issue, he'd see no problem actually dating y/n. She's smart, funny, and ambitious–qualities he held in high regard. However, tonight wasn't just about them two having dinner, at least technically it's not about that.

Taehyung's friends had arranged a get together at his apartment under the guise of it being a housewarming party. Normally, Tae would have no issues with the gesture, but considering he had to lie, it made things difficult.

He recalls the second phone conversation he had with y/n. He was, once again, pleading forgiveness while asking for a favor, something he never did in the past, but circumstances change.

"I can make it, but I might drop in late." Y/n tells him. He could faintly hear her typing on a computer as she spoke. "I do have a meeting that might run late, but I don't mind dropping in for dinner."

Tae sighs in relief. "You're a lifesaver, honestly."

Y/n chuckles on her end. "It's mutual, really. Without you, my friends would simply arrange another blind date that would most likely make me want to jump off a building."

Tae smirks. "Am I really the better of these dates?" He asks in amusement.

Y/n sighs. "You have no idea. They once set me up with a guy who went on about bitcoin."

Tae chuckles in response. "Must have been torture." He muses.

Y/n hums in agreement. "Anyway, just message me what time and what I can bring and I'll be there." She says before hanging up. He felt utterly grateful for how easy she's making things for him.
