You meet Jin at a pretty upscale restaurant and it has you questioning whether your black jeans were appropriate for the place. You wouldn't consider your attire frumpy or outdated, but it does seem really casual compared to everyone else. A woman wearing cashmere spares you a judging look that makes your skin crawl with unwanted insecurity.
You quickly calm your nerves as the hostess escorts you to Jin. He's seated near a large window that overlooks the Han River. The view itself was beautiful, but you're once again reminded just how handsome Jin is as he's wearing a sleek suit. It startles you for a moment because you're used to seeing him in casual wear and maybe the occasional button down shirt, but not an entire three piece suit that could arguably cost more than what you pay in rent. His lips pull into a smile upon seeing you which helps you to relax.
It was Jin's idea to have dinner at a fancy place like this. He swears they have some of the best seafood to offer in the city. You didn't argue this and decided to meet him regardless. You knew it'd be best to keep your distance, but that was not an option now. You figured it was too late to fight how you feel towards him. Neither of you defined your relationship, but after last week, there was no going back, at least not for you.
"I'm glad you were free tonight." Jin says as you sit across from him. You force a smile onto your face in response which he catches immediately. "What's wrong?" Jin asks.
Your face flushes. "I feel extremely underdressed." You say sheepishly, ducking your head slightly in embarrassment.
Jin waves you off. "You look beautiful." He assures you.
His sentiment helps a little and even prompts you to poke fun at the situation by saying, "I said I feel underdressed, not ugly."
Jin chuckles as you push away the remaining insecure thoughts that could potentially plague the night. The waitress promptly takes your orders and brings over some refreshments. You sip on your water before saying, "You look surprisingly spiffy this evening. You trying to swoon me, Mr. Kim?" There's humor in your tone, which brings a smile to Jin's face followed by furrowed brows.
"Please never call me that." He says with a faux-pained expression before adding, "It's what everyone calls my father."
Your face scrunches a bit before murmuring out an apology. "So this is a change of pace." You comment while glancing around.
There's truth in your words because for the most part the two of you mostly visited family-owned shops that weren't as upscale as this place. The two of you had found a handful of go-to restaurants, all of which didn't require a dress code other than not showing up naked. Although, Jin has mentioned there was a nudist inspired restaurant somewhere out in the country that you swiftly declined to visit.
Jin offers a non-commital shrug. "I figure I should treat you to a nice meal."
You squint your eyes at him. It's not unusual for Jin to want to get food with you, but the way he's going about things tonight definitely feels different. You try not to overthink the situation, but you can't seem to shake away the feeling. In the middle of eating your lobster bisque, a woman approaches your table, her lips pursed and eyes narrowed at you and Jin.
