Jin could feel his heart sinking into the pit of his stomach as he held onto y/n. It was like he was about to say goodbye to the best part of him. He'd been dreading this day ever since y/n had told him about her flight arrangements. It felt bittersweet, almost torturous, to know that after today, he won't be seeing her in his daily life.

"I'm gonna miss you so much." Y/n says as a few tears trail down her face.

Jin, who had been so used to wearing a mask to keep up with appearances, was not as kept together as he'd have liked to be. He stood before her, on the verge of tears.

"You know I'll miss you." He replies, trying to keep his voice even. The emotions overwhelming his tone gave his words a slight waver.

Two people in love shouldn't have to break up. Jin thinks to himself as he stares back at y/n.

Her tears has him wanting to hold her until she misses her flight. He doesn't want to lose her. Every part of him wants her to stay, but he knows that if she were to stay, she'd end up resenting him. Jin would rather y/n go off on a new adventure without him to find her happiness than to be trapped here with him and regret it.

"I'll call you when I land in London, okay?" She says, mustering up a bright and confident tone despite her eyes watering up again.

Jin could feel his heart breaking, splintering into shards that jab his ribcage. Every breath was like a sharp reminder that he was losing the best thing that's ever happened to him. He knows how dramatic it sounds to word it in such a way, but after everything they've been through, he can't help but feel this way. Y/n knew every part of him and still loved him. That alone was something he won't ever let go of.

"I look forward to it." He says, mirroring her expression.

It takes a considerable amount of effort for Jin to not crumble on the spot. He's promised himself to keep it together, to show a strong face for the sake of y/n. He doesn't want her to feel guilty for taking the next step for a bright future. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself otherwise.

"I know I have to go." She murmurs softly, her face still pressed against his chest.

He wonders if she can hear just how erratic his heart was beating.

Don't go. The words nearly tumble out of his mouth.

Taking a deep, steadying breath, Jin says, "Make sure to enjoy every day. And who knows, maybe we'll run into each other." His voice is light, an attempt to hide the pain lurking just beneath the surface.

Y/n pulls away first, her head tilted up so she can look at his face. Jin swims in the longing stare that's in her gaze. He knows without her having to say it out loud–the bittersweet words that have stained their conversations ever since she made the decision to move. There's no regret in her stare, nor is there guilt, just a heavy goodbye.
