Jungkook Part 9

You had a big heart, something that was both a blessing and a curse. It's a trait that was surely passed down from your mother's side of the family, something you couldn't help but pick up on throughout your childhood. It's why you were currently seated across from Lily and Meleana. Mel was mostly there to act as a mediator since, according to her, Lily wanted to apologize for how she acted when first meeting Jungkook.

You intended to keep ignoring Lily's calls, hoping she'd catch the hint that you needed time to cool down. However, as a couple weeks went by, you felt somewhat lukewarm to the idea of hearing Lily out as long as she was sincerely going to apologize.

You sit cross armed across from them, an expectant expression coating your features. You were waiting for either Mel or Lily to break the silence since there really wasn't anything for you to say.

"The silence is killing me." Mel mutters dryly before glancing at Lily. "Wasn't there something you wanted to say?" She promptly asks.

Lily exhales a deep breath. "Listen, y/n, I apologize." She begins, though the way she says it seems a little forced.

Part of your reason for feeling this way is because you wanted more groveling. It's a silly request on your part, but it's the least she could've done.

"However, what I said came from a place of love and concern." Lily continues to say as you narrow your eyes in response. "The delivery and articulation might've needed some work, but I just always want what's best for you." Lily spares you a small smile as she crosses her hands on the table, expecting a response from you.

A part of you understands that she means well, but the fact that she doesn't recognize how wrong she really was for saying any of it bothers you. The smile adorning your face feels tight and forced. The words you want to unleash onto her are held back by the decision to take a deep breath.

"A place of love and concern?" You dryly mutter back. "If this is your way of apologizing, then it's a shit attempt." You remark harshly, catching both Mel and Lily by surprise.

"Y/n, let's not fuel the fire." Mel cautions.

Your stare cuts to her, raising a brow in response.

Mel clears her throat before saying, "You have every right to be mad, but let's not burn down a bridge neither of us can rebuild."

You breathe out a sigh. You knew to some extent that Mel means well, and that she's really looking out for you. But the things Lily said were way out of line.

"I'm not intending to burn down any bridges." You reply evenly. "I'm under the impression that I'd be getting an apology. And though you said the words 'I'm sorry', it doesn't excuse the fact that it was cruel, regardless of Lily's intentions."

Lily's eyes widened. "I didn't say any of it to be cruel." She says defensively. "You're dating a nice guy, but niceness isn't enough to sustain a relationship long-term." She adds on.
