Jungkook seems to relax into the silence that settles over him and y/n. There was comfort in knowing that y/n wasn't about to ignore him once they're free from this hell-ish elevator. He glances over at y/n who seems a little more relaxed upon hearing the news that the repair guy will be there shortly. Y/n's eyes are closed as she leans against the wall of the elevator, her face completely relaxed. Jungkook smirks, wondering if she felt a little relieved after the weighted conversation they had. Jungkook feels a sense of comfort for saying the words out loud.
He thinks about his past relationship and how the entire experience had been eye-opening for him. He had always thought opposites in personality would help to make a relationship work. However, that snow day highlighted a lot of issues with that way of thinking. Jungkook realized that opposing personalities wasn't some magical formula for things working out. In fact, it was a recipe for disaster. It took some time for him to realize that opposites can attract, but sharing some kind of middle ground was essential for anything to work out.
It had been a mixture of naivete and wishful thinking to try and make things work with his ex. He should've known earlier that the relationship had been doomed. But unfortunately, they had prolonged the relationship, choosing a shared history over compatibility. It was a series of small hurts that eventually built up into a mountain of hurt. It didn't take long for their arguments to turn into silence, a silence that couldn't be filled with anything other than distance.
He didn't fully understand why he said any of this to y/n, but he wasn't about to question it now. In the short span of knowing y/n, he felt like she wasn't someone who would use this information against him. It prompts him to want to keep the conversation going. Words seem to escape Jungkook as he tries to think of something to say. But all that comes to him are superficial questions that seem to fall short of stimulating conversation.
"I think when I get out of here, I'm gonna look for another apartment complex to live in." Y/n jokes, helping to ease Jungkook's dilemma on what to say.
"And pay for breaking the lease? I don't know about that." He muses, earning a smirk to pull across y/n's face.
She opens her eyes and meets Jungkook's stare. "I don't know. I think a place with a functioning elevator might tempt me." She retorts with a knowing look on her face.
Jungkook was about to lob a teasing remark back at y/n when the intercom dings, announcing that the repair man has arrived and will be making quick work to get them the hell out of dodge. A pleased smile crosses y/n's face as Jungkook begins to feel antsy. He was more than ready to leave.
"Yeah, I think for the sake of anyone's sanity, an apartment with a functioning elevator doesn't sound so bad." Jungkook humors her, earning a quiet laugh from y/n.
It takes another hour before the repair man successfully fixes the elevator.
The doors were first to open, allowing both Jungkook and y/n to quickly exit it. A flood of relief washes over the both of them once crossing past the threshold. It's like Jungkook can finally exhale. He feels his stomach grumble, a clear sign that it's been too long since his last meal. He glances at y/n who promptly unstraps her heels, opting to walk barefoot on the questionable walkway rather than bare a few more minutes of wearing them. Her face seems to visibly relax once she's holding the heels in her hands.
