Jin felt as if life had placed an unbearable amount of weight on his shoulders. He had multiple worries occupying his mind that, with the fast pace of his life, he couldn't seem to properly address any of these concerning matters. In fact, they've been cluttering his mind and causing migraines that pound in his temples.

First, there's y/n. Jin had finally told her the truth, something that he still feels uncertain about. But the scenario wasn't all bad. That night was not a catastrophe, but upon revealing his secret to y/n, it was like something between them shifted. She had expressed some confusion in the matter followed by a level of understanding. However, he felt–and maybe this is where he's overthinking things–that there was an underlying anger coming from her. He explained how he didn't want to keep any secrets from her, but also knew that revealing his identity came with a load of luggage that Jin wasn't ready to unpack.

Y/n hadn't erupted with rage or yelled at him, but her silence in the matter concerned him to some extent. Nevertheless, that wasn't the only thing weighing down his mind. Currently, Jin was at his parents house, sharing a rather stale dinner over strained conversation.

"It would be beneficial for you to oversee things in China." Mr. Kim, Jin's father, says to him.

Jin felt like a child all over again as he sat at the large oak table that probably costs more than most people's annual income. Despite taking Jin over the CEO position due to his father's retirement from the company, the man was still up to date with the company's standing. Jin had anticipated his father tossing in suggestions here and there, but the man was just as involved when he was KS Enterprise's acting CEO. It made Jin want to hand back the title since he never wanted it in the first place.

"It would only result in micromanaging those in leadership positions." Jin respectfully counters before continuing, "I prefer those appointed to oversee the project in China to do as instructed without my direct involvement."

Jin may have endured the proper education to handle the role he was given, but he knew he lacked the tenacity for it. Jin was very aware of the board members waiting for an opportunity for him to slip up, only to replace him with someone of their preference. And although that was a tempting thought, Jin couldn't disappoint his father, the man who had meticulously planned out Jin's entire life, assuring Jin would be his successor. Good son's don't disappoint their fathers.

Mr. Kim grimaces before nodding a languid agreement. "If things go south due to lack of attention, it falls on you. The shareholders will not be pleased by mistakes made so early on in your career." With that sentiment, the conversation was tabled, for now at least.

"Now, I suppose we can speak on other matters." Jin's mother interjects in an even tone. "I've arranged several blind dates with suitable women of our stature." She adds, her tone leaving little room for rebuttal.

Mrs. Kim seemed to mirror Mr. Kim's demeanor, dignified people who wielded wealth and status as weapons. This dinner was mostly used to check in on Jin, determining whether or not they need to further intervene in their eldest son's life. Jin was hardly a fan of these dinners. They felt too formal, a ceremonious charade that made Jin's skin itch with thoughts of running away. His family often resembled perfection in photos, but in person, there was a distance he could never close no matter how hard he tried. It got to a point that Jin decided it was easier to just let things happen, like following a current. Fighting it would only result in drowning.
