You weren't ready to leave just yet

You weren't ready to leave just yet. It's as if time were slipping through your hands at an alarming rate that you couldn't quite slow down and enjoy it the way you wanted to. You can't imagine how different things will be in a matter of hours.

With Jimin's hand in yours, the two of you took a short stroll through the quiet night of your neighborhood. Come tomorrow, Jimin will be heading to South Korea and you will be on your way to Florence, Italy. It all felt unbearably bittersweet. You wish you could, for a second, hit pause and just bask in how perfect the current moment was.

You and Jimin were together, happily drinking in the quiet evening after sharing dinner with your family. A smile tugs at his lips and you can't help but admire how beautiful he is, both inside and outside. He looked like an angel beneath the soft glow of moonlight, illuminating his features in an ethereal way that you swear you could shed a tear if you stared at him for too long.

Your summer, though filled with impossible ups and downs, was quite healing. Jimin found his back to you and you promise to not let him go. You'll do everything you can to make it work.

"You don't have to be worried." Jimin says softly, giving your hand a reassuring squeeze. "It's gonna work out."

"I'm not worried." You murmur back before adding, "I just don't want this summer to end."

He breathes out a small sigh. "I know, it's like we just got back to the way things were before it started." He says thoughtfully. "But it's not like your time in Italy will last forever. I mean, who knows, maybe I'll come to visit you and love it so much that I won't wanna leave."

You could tell he was trying to lift your spirits by being overly optimistic about things, and you were really trying your hardest to not let your thoughts linger on how things will be once you both go your separate ways, but it was hard. You were worried that you would find comfort in the distance and what could possibly be talking to each other every day, would slowly dwindle into a conversation or text message once or week or less.

You don't doubt Jimin's heart or even your own heart for that matter, you doubt that the universe will be kind to the both of you. You don't want him to feel lonely once you're in Florence. Feeling lonely wasn't new to you, so you feel like you'll manage, but for Jimin, you worry he'll have a hard time.

"You're overthinking again, y/n." Jimin cautions in a gentle tone.

A soft giggle passes your lips. "I know, I'm just trying to stay positive so that I won't mess things up again."

Jimin's expression softens as he brings your strides to a stop. Tilting your chin up to look at him, he holds your gaze for a moment before speaking. "You didn't mess things up the first time. I think we both needed that wake up call." He explains warmly before adding, "It showed us what we needed to do if we want this relationship to work, and we did."

Your chest fills with warmth, encouraging you to lean upwards to place a soft kiss on his lips. Ever since that morning Lei had convinced your mom to take her shopping, you and Jimin hadn't had a lot of time to be alone with one another. You wished another opportunity would arise, but it seems the house was always occupied with another person who might not like the idea of you and Jimin being locked away in your room.
