"You can't just keep pretending that things will magically get better." Hoseok points out one morning.
The two men were currently getting ready to meet y/n for the dinner reservations Jin had made for the evening. Jin wanted y/n to meet Hoseok, but considering Hoseok had been in a mood all day, he couldn't help but worry things might not go as smoothly as he hoped.
"What's got your mood down in the dumps?" Jin asks, with a certain levity in his tone to brighten the mood.
Hoseok sighs. "I'm just worried."
"About what?" Jin asks as he buttons his cuff links. "Is it work?"
Hoseok shakes his head. "I'm worried for you." Hoseok comments while sparing Jin a serious expression.
Jin offers a non-commital shrug. "There's nothing to worry about."
Hoseok rolls his eyes at his friend. "It's been a week since we've been here, and though I know you're enjoying your time with y/n, what happens afterwards, huh?"
The question is pointed, unintentionally sharp that Jin winces back in response. Both y/n and Jin had skirted around having a serious talk with one another, choosing to ignore the blatantly large elephant in the room in order to enjoy the limited time they had with one another.
Hoseok exhales a deep sigh before saying, "I'm just afraid that once we head back home, you'll spiral."
Jin's jaw tenses because Hoseok has a point. He hadn't considered what would happen afterwards–after the trip when there's hundreds of miles between him and y/n. He doesn't want to linger on the thought for too long, but to ignore it will probably be worse in the end.
"I'll figure it out when the time comes." Jin replies softly.
"I hope so." Hoseok replies before adding, "I don't think you realized the state you were in before I arrived. I'm not saying my involvement in your life helped you a lot, but it brought you out of your downward spiral by a fraction."
Jin nods his head, barely able to visualize himself being the mess he was when y/n left. Jin was hesitant in bringing up serious topics with y/n, especially in regards to their relationship. He knew he loved her and she loved him, but there were things that apologies and promises can't fix.
"Anyway, let's head out, right? I can't wait to officially meet this girl that stole your heart away." Hoseok says, breaking through Jin's thoughts.
Jin forces a smile on his face as he nods his head. The two head out of the hotel suite and take the rental car to the restaurant. Jin's mind races on how he'll approach the topic with y/n. He knows it won't happen tonight, but it'll have to happen soon, at least before he leaves.
What is it that I want? A long distance relationship with y/n where she'll constantly worry about me being upfront and honest with her? How will I assure her that it wouldn't be an issue? What do I have to do to make things right?
