Taehyung had knocked back a few drinks that it was probably a dumb decision to be on a boat that could easily tip over if there was anything larger than a ripple colliding into it. But thinking was overrated, at least that's how Taehyung rationalized it. Him and his friends had the brilliant idea to go night fishing, which Tae knew it was a guise to pester him about y/n. He knew his friends were genuinely curious about how serious he was in the relationship and whether they should be concerned if things were to end.

The thought behind their intentions were endearing, but Tae ultimately wanted to assure them that things were fine. He liked y/n even if it all was fake. He genuinely enjoyed her company and didn't mind putting the effort into seeing her throughout his busy work week.

"You seem happy." Jimin comments while clasping a hand on Tae's shoulder.

His words startle him from his thoughts before a sheepish smile pulls at his lips. "I am." Tae answers honestly.

Y/n had a way of bringing out a side of him that he thought was long gone. Tae had been so used to leading a life that revolved around work that he hadn't realized just how much he had been missing out with his friends.

"Do I hear wedding bells in the future?" Yong-kyu teases, earning a narrowed glare from Tae.

"We've only started dating." Tae chuckles.

Even if he was actually dating y/n, marriage was way too soon. In no means did Tae abhor the idea of marriage, but he couldn't possibly entertain the idea if he'd only been dating someone for less than a year.

"I'm joking, Tae bear." Yong-kyu laughs. "You just...seem like your old self." He elaborates.

Tae knew what he meant without having to go into detail. His last serious girlfriend had ended things on a bad note. It had Tae spiraling into a depression that ultimately left him hollow. At the time he was merely existing, not living.

His relationship with Mara was doomed from the beginning. The two were always competing with one another, whether it was professionally or otherwise. Tae thought innocent competition was good for a relationship, but that was hardly the case. Mara's ambition led to a number of their relationships' downfall, things that Tae hadn't prevented because he loved her. He really did. Ultimately, Mara's career was a priority over their relationship. And Tae doesn't fault her for that, but cheating was definitely what did it for him.

"Maybe we can plan more friend trips with her." Woo-shik proposes thoughtfully which has Tae smiling broadly.

He adored his friends and how accepting they were towards her. He was worried they would've been apprehensive towards her, but they were nothing but kind. They welcomed y/n without any question and even went as far as including her into every conversation circulating within the group, prompting y/n with questions to include her opinions on things.

"If her schedule allows it, then I'm game." Tae nods.

He can't help but think of the conversation he wants to have with y/n, the one where he tells her how he's been feeling. He hadn't realized just how enamored he was towards her. But after their first dinner with his friends, it had clarified a few things for Tae. Their relationship, although based on a white lie, had slowly grown into a friendship, one Tae cherished. Through that friendship, Tae's feelings had grown deeper, rooting in his heart in such a permanent way. It fills him with some guilt to know that once he says any of this to her, it might ruin things.
