Jimin makes a concentrated effort to not bombard y/n with his constant presence. He even refrained from texting her persistently if he hadn't immediately received a reply from her. It definitely made him anxious to wait for her responses, but he knew y/n was trying. She did forwarn him that she's not the best when it comes to texting. At first, it felt like torture to wait on y/n's responses, but soon, Jimin saw her one-word exchanges gradually shift into whole sentences that were thought provoking, encouraging the conversation to keep going.

The two had exchanged suitable time frames to help with getting to know one another. Y/n's schedule seemed to be filled with classes, activity meetings, and the occasional internship hours she had to complete for her degree. Compared to Jimin, y/n barely had time for socializing.

Jimin's schedule had a lot more room to play with, meaning that whenever y/n had an opening, he'd make time for her. This often wound up with the two of them sharing a morning together, with Lei in tow who seemed to be their number one cheerleader for their newfound friendship.

Jimin would exchange a knowing look with Lei–she had been the one to suggest taking y/n to the Palace Theater in the first place, claiming that if she had to lose him to someone then y/n would be a suitable candidate. This was all said in humor, of course, which was a ringing endorsement for Jimin.

It was coming up on the weekend and Jimin had been slightly determined to spend it with y/n since she had an entire day free. He's turned down invitations from other friends who had plans to attend a few campus parties, but Jimin had other things in mind. Plus, he knew y/n wouldn't want to attend a party.

"Y/n?" Taehyung, his best friend, questions with a quizzical brow arched. Jimin rolls his eyes as Tae continues. "I have nothing against her, but isn't she a little weird."

Jimin narrows his stare at him. "She's not weird." He cautions.

Jimin knew that his friends would question his interest in y/n. He had no intention of letting them speak poorly about y/n when they knew nothing about her. Jimin himself was still trying to get to know y/n, which is why he didn't feel the need to explain any of this to them.

"Okay, maybe weird is a harsh way of putting it." Tae doubles down before saying, "But she's not usually the type you go for."

Jimin smiles to himself. That's precisely why he likes being around y/n. She doesn't pine for his attention or goes out of her way to be agreeable to him. She doesn't play coy around him or fear that her honesty would somehow bruise his ego. She's candid with him even when he wishes she'd sugarcoat things. Y/n is unapologetically herself, something that Jimin aspires to be. Jimin notices that Tae is still waiting for him to respond and ultimately rolls his eyes at his friend.

"We're taking some time to get to know each other." Jimin sighs. "She's actually pretty funny." He adds on as Tae gives him a doubtful expression. He doesn't push the topic further, opting to change it entirely.
