I've never been to therapy-most of what I wrote from research into what being in therapy is like, and it's also just me trying to give advice to the characters.
Feel free to tell me if my interpretation of therapy is bad, and I'll keep that in mind the next time Adora goes to a therapist.
Rumours circulated around the school. It all started because Bow had his arms around Glimmer. By mid-morning, both their Instagram bios were updated, saying they were in a relationship. Neither said who, but people put two and two together.
There was whispering, but Adora stayed out of it. She had homework to do, after all. She didn't have to think about it, when everyone was in Huntara's class. Nobody was really talking, too absorbed in their own work to talk. Mermista had her headphones in, oblivious, Adora was engrossed in her English homework, Frosta played cookie clicker, and Seahawk researched something on his Chromebook. They didn't even notice Glimmer and Bow enter.
"Ahem!"
Adora startled.
Glimmer and Bow were holding hands.
Who would have thought? One day after telling their parents, and here they were, acting all couple-y. It was so cute.
"Oh, are you guys dating?"
"Yeah." Glimmer ran a hand through her hair. "It's so not a big deal-"
"OMG, Glimbow is finally a thing!" Seahawk couldn't help but grin, closing his laptop lid. "We should throw a party, or something, cause I've honestly shipped this since I met you guys."
"Really?"
"Please." Mermista removed an earbud, fidgeting with it. "It was so obvious. Especially with your announcement today." She shrugged, resting her head on her knuckles. "I should have made a bet on it, actually. But who would vote against you guys getting together?" She looked over at Adora, and she glanced away. Did she know that Adora knew?
"Come on." Glimmer rolled her eyes, pulling up a seat beside Adora. "We're not that obvious. Right?"
Mermista pulled out an earbud, rubbing it between her fingers. She didn't even look up, her attention on her turquoise nails. "Uh huh. So how long were you guys together for?"
Bow and Glimmer both exchanged looks. Bow cleared his throat, setting his binder on the floor. It was filled with a rainbow of colourful highlighters and sticky notes. "Uh, remember when I started working at the library?"
"In July?"
"Yeah." He coughed. "That's part of why I never talked about work." Bow laughed. "Other than it being boring. But mostly I didn't want to bring it up too much or you guys would visit and, well, find out about us."
"When are you gonna tell them you don't want to be a librarian?" Adora asked. "It's our final year of highschool, Bow."
"I don't know," Bow said. "I was hoping maybe my career councilor could tell them after I get into college."
"With Glimmer?" Frosta aggressively clicked at her screen.
"Yeah," Mermista said, absently eating her tuna salad. Pushed her earbud back in, sinking back into whatever podcast she was listening to. Her voice got louder as she said, "they can be roommates." Which got a few chuckles around the room.
"Okay, stop joking around. How did your dads not find out?" Seahawk frowned, rubbing his mustache. "Didn't they suspect?"
"I told them last night, and they didn't know." Bow shrugged. "Besides, we never did anything while they were around! They left me alone on quiet days, and I'd text Glimmer-"
