Hello, hello, hello!
I see some people are putting Team Catradora on their reading lists <3 Just wanted to say thanks everyone, for reading this little book...it means a lot to me that people are actually interested in my writing.
"I'm home!"
No response.
Adora cleared her throat. "And I brought a friend!" She glanced over at Catra, and shrugged. "She's probably working overtime. Come, I'll show you."
Surely enough, Angella was in her office, on her computer. The room was about the width of two closets, if they were smushed side by side. There was a little more length than a closet, hwever, enough to fit a small desk and two filing cabinets. The desk was plopped center of the room, with little space to squeeze through the walls.
Yeah, their rooms were so getting made into an office after they moved out. Angella made do, probably because she was a very organized person, but it couldn't have been comfortable.
"Oh, you're home." She glanced between the two of them, straight faced. Honestly, Adora had no idea why she didn't question the sword they found, but Adora wouldn't be the one to bring it up.
Angela rested her arms across her desk. No music played-apparently there was something she liked about the silence of it all, her and the keyboards.
Adora could relate. It was how she liked to play Zelda: completely focused on the task at hand. She had the audio on, but never put on music or any background noise. It helped her immerse herself in the world, and really get into the atmosphere.
Angella couldn't help but smile. "Oh, are you Catra?" She squeezed past the desk to shake her hand.
This was promising!
"Yeah. I'm Catra." She smiled back, but it looked kinda awkward. "It's...nice to meet you."
"Would you like dinner?" She spoke about dinner like she would when making a business deal, her tone deliberate and confident. "I have some pizza you could microwave."
"I'm okay." Catra laughed, for a little two long. "I ate earlier."
"I'll be done my paperwork in a few." She gestured vaguely to the computer. "Feel free to spend the night. You would have to sleep on the couch, though."
"Mom!"
"I'm just saying!" She laughed. "Do you go to Brightmoon High?"
"No, actually. But I would have been if I stayed in school." Catra pressed a fist against the palm of her hand. "I'm a waitress. At Prime's Dining."
"I've heard of it." She shrugged, turning back to her work. She sorted through papers that were perfectly in order. "It's fancy there, right?"
"For the customers, yeah." Catra shoved her hands in her jacket pocket. "And it's a living. I get good tips."
"I'm sure." Another awkward silence passed. "Well, I should get back to work. But I can't wait to get to know you better. I'm so happy that Adora's met someone who makes her happy."
"Uh..." Adora rubbed the back of her neck. "So do you wanna play Zelda again-"
"I make you happy?" Catra wrapped her arms around Adora, giving her a quick squeeze. "How embarrassing for you."
"You're the one saying hi to my mom."
"Shit." Catra cleared her throat, letting go of her. "That wasn't because I like you."
At hearing that, Angella adopted a weird expression, then sat back at her desk and typed. That was their que! Adora linked arms with Catra, and they were led out. As soon as they were out of earshot, Catra whispered, "she hates me."
