"I'm so glad you came to see me, baby. I thought you forgot about me." I rolled my eyes as my dramatic grandmother hugged me dearly.

Since the US leg of the tour is over, I've been able to take a leave of absence for about three weeks. Therefore, I have decided to use my time wisely and visit my family back home. It's completely different then our almost daily FaceTime calls as well as all of the stuff that had transpired.

"Grandmama, why you so extra?" She pushed her hands up in defense as if she was innocent in her reaction.

"I'm just sayin. You had the money to buy a ticket to see me but nah. I could've been robbed, sick, or dead and you would've been MIA. That's alright because y'all gon miss me when I'm gone."

I then sat down on her couch while she finished cooking her pot of roast. I sighed with relief at the relaxing atmosphere that became a norm for me. It was an atmosphere that could make everything negative going on disappear.

It was my safe haven.

"How is work goin, Y/n?"

Oh, besides the fight I got in, almost getting shot at, and dealing with a celebrity who I bump heads with? It's divine.

"It's aight. Just gotta get used to the days where it can be good or not so good. But I can handle it." She nodded as I simply explained.

"How you doin?" I asked her genuinely.

"I'm blessed." I smiled as she continued. "I'm just happy that my grandkids are doing alright and as long as that's the case, I'm always goin to be good."

"I like that."

We then continued to talk and catch up. Most of our topics included my job, Trey, her health, and whatever gossip she has from church. However, things took a turn.

"You know Ryan asked about ya." I rolled my eyes at the mention of my older brother. We haven't talked since I left the city, and he hasn't even reached out, which somewhat bothered me. For him to be someone I looked up to and had a closer relationship with, we treated each other like we were invincible after that fight.

"That's cool." I said nonchalantly as she frowned.

"Y/n, don't be like that."

"Be like what, grandmama? I mean, that nigg-, that mane ain't talked to me since I left. He comin to you askin bout me but he ain't reached out to me so he don't care that much." She only chuckled as I vented. I furrowed my eyebrows confused at where the joke was.

"You know, y'all are too much alike."

"Grandmama, now you kno-,"

"Nope, let me speak." I closed my mouth while biting my tongue. "Y'all are both stubborn as hell. Y'all hate when someone tells y'all the truth but yet, y'all will fight someone if they didn't care about y'alls feelings. Yeah, y'all not speakin, but I know y'all too much. Hell, raised y'all and you know just as much as I do that both of y'all think more than you say. You can be dead silent to each other or just cuss out people but deep down, you hurt each other more with the things you can't articulate and say more than what you spew out out of spite."
