Chapter 8~ How did you know you liked girls?

Arwen had been avoiding the party for about two weeks now. She didn't exactly want to, especially during the summer but being around Max confused her more than ever, she hated that Max was the only person that really knew her and it terrified her, along with Max completely avoiding everything which confused her even more, was it all in her head or did Max really not feel anything? Truth is Arwen didn't even know what she felt herself, she didn't even know if she liked girls like that.
"Arwen this is Mike, do you copy?" Mikes voice blared out Arwen's walkie talkie on the floor waking her up which she swore she had turned it off, she turned over and rummaged around on her floor until she felt it and picked it up, "go away I'm sleeping." She groaned, "are you kidding!? We thought you were dead, we've barely seen you in two weeks!"
"So if you thought I was dead why didn't you come over and check?"
"We saw your mom when we went over to Will's house, she said you're not feeling well and that we should give you time to rest." He explained, Arwen hadn't even told her mom to do that but she was thankful she did.
"Then listen to my mother and leave me alone." She turned off her walkie talkie and threw it across the room.

Arwen finally got out of bed and sat at her desk to brush her hair out when her attention went onto a polaroid of her and Max, she grabbed it and brushed her thumb over it, she missed her more than she wanted to admit.
Arwen decided to ride her bike over to the mall to take her mind of things and she hadn't technically left the house in over a week."Hey Robin." She walked up to the counter at scoops where Robin was writing tally marks on Steve's reject board again, "he's been rejected five times already today?" Arwen laughed.
"Hello my favourite child, yep he claims it's the hat that's ruining his chances with the ladies." Robin laughed but stopped once she noticed Arwens facial expressions change, "you okay?"
"Can I speak to you somewhere?"
"Sure, Steve take over!" She called to the back and an unhappy Steve walked out, they went into an empty booth in the corner of the room so no one was near them.
"What's up? Did you sort things out with Max? Wait why haven't I seen you in ages?" Robin blurted out all at once, "no and because I've been self loathing." Arwen half joked, "that's my favourite hobby!" Robin grinned, "what about?"
"How did you know you liked girls?" Arwen asked quickly then looked down so she couldn't see Robins face, "I think I always knew, sometimes it takes a while for people to figure who they are and what they like and others just know but there isn't any rush to find yourself, you have your whole life for that. Is there a reason you're asking Arwen?" She gave her a reassuring smile.
"I just- I always feel like this pressure has been put on me. I mean since Max moved here it's like the boys just assumed something of us and Will always makes jokes about Max when I never even told him I liked girls." A wide smile appeared on Robins face with the last words Arwen had said, "I think you've found your answer Wen, you just said it."
"Oh my god I like girls." Her eyes widened and Robin had an even bigger smile on her face, "I'm proud of you for realising on your own terms-"
"Realising what?" Max and Will were suddenly in front of them and Arwen felt her stomach drop, "uh-" Robin started trying to think of something, "that I shouldn't isolate myself." Arwen said, thankful that she thought of something so quickly, "about that..." Max started, "I'm so sorry for not seeing if you were okay, I wanted to give you space after everything that happened at Mikes." Max stared into her eyes, "It's okay Maxie."
"Mkay my shift is over," Steve interrupted, walking past, "Robin, you're coming over early to help set up the party right?" Steve asked, spinning his car keys around his finger, Robin nodded her head whilst Max, Will and Arwen looked at each other, "party? What party?" Arwen asked, "the party I'm throwing at my house." He put one hand on his hip, "you should let them come Steve." Robin battered her eyes, the three all smirked at each other, "yeah Steve you should let us come." Will grinned, "oh no I am not letting you little shit heads within fifty feet of my party."
"Come on Steve." Robin protested, they all looked at him until he gave in, "god I'm so going to regret this but fine, since you guys are older now, it starts at seven okay, think you can handle being up that late?"
"We're literally two years younger than you." Max flipped him off, "I'm trusting you all at this party okay and don't wear those shorts will." He walked out of scoops leaving the girls doing a little celebration dance, "what's wrong with my shorts? Why is everyone always making fun of my shorts?"
