72. 𝑰𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍.

Chapter 72~ Incident in starcourt mall.
A/n- Not long to go☹️

"Oh my god pull over! She's there! She's over there!" Arwen shouted as Nancy came to a rapid stop. "What the hell is she doing outside Victor Creel's house?" Nancy questioned as Arwen wasted no time in running up to Max who was stood facing the front door. Arwen became extremely worried about what condition Max would be in, what if she was in a trance? What if something happened?

"Arwen be careful." Steve instructed, "it's Max, it's fine." She shouted without turning back, "what if it's a tric-" Robin quickly stopped herself not wanting to worry anyone further.

"Max?!" Arwen rushed in front of her, "are you hurt? What happened?" She checked over her, "how did you get here?!" Max's eyes slowly followed Arwen's with tears that were threatening to spill.

"He's back." Is all Max let out, "okay." Arwen took a deep breath, "can I take you back to the car?" She asked before Max nodded slowly, still in a disoriented state.

"What happened?!" The group freaked out once they were back at the car, "Max are you okay?!" Nancy questioned, "are you hurt?" Steve asked, "guys! Let her get in the car first." Arwen yelled as she helped Max into the car with everyone still freaking out.

"Max." Dustin started, "can you just drive?" She asked, "but-" Nancy chimed in, "I said drive! Just drive Nancy!" Max shouted with urgency. Nancy quickly took off and the car was now in silence.

"He's back okay!" Max shouted after about ten minutes of extreme worry from the group, "Vecna is back." She said quieter this time.

"Oh my god." Robin let out, "how is this possible?!" Steve looked to El who had widened eyes, "was it not obvious? I mean there are literally dead people walking around." Erica chimed in as Arwen had a concerning look on her face which didn't go unoticed.

"Did you know about this?" Mike questioned, making them all turn to Arwen, "well uh-" she started, "tell them." Max instructed bluntly, "tell us what?" Steve asked making Arwen stare blankly into space.

"Arwen."

"Tell us what?" Steve repeated, "I knew." She admitted before explaining everything to them, the nightmares, the visions, everything.

"You knew he was back this whole time and you didn't say anything?!" Mike questioned with a raised voice, "I told you guys that I thought he was still alive from the beginning." Arwen shouted back which started to turn into more of a cry, "no! You told Nancy, El and Max. It involves all of us!"

"Mike shut the fuck up!" Arwen suddenly screamed, "shut the fuck up!" She repeated causing everyone to exchange looks, "this isn't her fault Mike." El defended her, "I was so sure that I- that I killed him...I turned down any possibility that he could still be alive but- I was wrong." She explained, "El." Mike started, "god you're an asshole." Arwen scoffed, "I mean why are you so quick to blame me all the fucking time?"

"Guys we need to figure out what to do instead of fighting." Jonathon stated, "I'm sorry he made you do and see all that stuff Wen." Will placed a hand on her arm, "yeah this guy is a fucking asshole." Eddie added.

"It's fine- I just wanna know what we're going to do because it feels like we may not be so lucky this time." She let out, "more people are leaving." Robin said as she looked out the window, all lights were turned off in houses, cars were going in and out of town, people were still roaming the streets shouting for answers whilst the very few cops in Hawkins tried to round them up.

"We need to find our parents." Lucas said, "and we will but first we have to see what's going on." Nancy replied, "are you insane?" Mike argued, "it's not our responsibility."

"But we know what's actually happening." She argued back, "so? We have put our lives at risk so many times. Arwen was just in a coma, we're not risking it again. We need to leave town."

"We can't just leave town Mike." Arwen said before a sudden bang sounded around them which caused the car to jolt slightly, "shit." Nancy said trying to get the wheel straight again, "what the fuck is that noise?!" Dustin questioned, "was it an earthquake?" Max asked,
"Uh...I don't think that's an earth quake.." Robin stated, they all turned around slowly to see the massive creature from last summer, they thought they had gotten rid of.

"Oh my god." The party let out in unison, "there's no fucking way!" Dustin yelled, "what? What is it?!" Nancy asked, not taking her eyes off the road, "Nancy." Mike said as calmly as possible, "you need to drive quietly."

"What the hell!" Erica shouted, "no she needs to drive even fucking faster!" Dustin yelled and Nancy quickly looked in the mirror, "oh my god." She whispered, "the fucking mindflayer is back!" Lucas screamed, "holy shit! Holy shit! Holy shit!" Eddie shouted, "hold on!" Nancy instructed before changing the gear and pressing down on the gas, "are you fucking kidding me?! Why is this thing back?!" Arwen breathed out before looking over at Max who was staring at it with wide eyes, "it's okay." She squeezed her hand to try and reassure her, "none of this is okay." Max replied sadly but Arwen didn't know how to reply.

"What's happening now?" Nancy asked as Dustin looked out the back window, "I think it just stood on someone's house." He replied, "it's not following us atleast."

"Are any people around?" She asked, "nope- looks like it's just us." Dustin retorted.

"Nancy where are we actually going?" Steve asked, "just trust me." She said bluntly. They carried on driving through town, luckily there were no one demodogs in sight and the downtown Hawkins apparently hadn't found out about the 500 foot creature walking around yet.

"Why are we going towards Starcourt mall?" Will questioned, "what is this, 1985?" Arwen said, "so the mindflayers back and we're going to Starcourt?" Max questioned, "deja vu."

"Let's go." Nancy instructed once she stopped the car outside the mall, "seriously why are we going in the mall Nancy?" Steve and Jonathon caught up with her, "to get away from that thing, we're furthest away from any of the new gates." She explained, "this mall did not help us last time." Robin argued as the older teens walked ahead into the entrance.

"Are you okay?" Arwen turned to Max who gently nodded, "this is insane right?" Lucas questioned, "totally insane." Will and Dustin agreed, "I swear to god they are always putting me in danger, I am a minor." Erica said.

"Arwen, Eleven, stay over there and check all the windows and doors." Nancy instructed as they all scattered around collecting things to barricade the entrances. Nancy seemed to be the only one who was okay with this plan but she usually knew what she was doing so they chose to trust her, kinda.

"What is this even going to do?" Max sighed, "this mall doesn't exactly have a good tract record of keeping us safe."

"I agree with Max." Will said, "this is going to get us nowhere."

"Exactly." Lucas chimed in, "Arwen?" Max got her attention as she turned around with a worried look on her face, "what do you think about this? And El?"

"I want to fucking kill him." They both said in unison making Max sigh, "okay." She hesitantly nodded.
