Chapter 61~ Waking from hell.

"Arwen." Max cried, running over to her whilst Nancy stayed on the floor in shock, "you're not here." Arwen whispered, not making eye contact with Max, "what?" Max stopped where she was and looked back at Nancy who was just as confused, "you're not real." A tear escaped her eye, "I am, I am, it's me okay, we know what he made you see Arwen." Max was now crying too, "do you remember anything that happened before?" Nancy asked, stepping forward.

Arwen widened her eyes at Nancy and tried to move back in her bed but couldn't because of the casts on her arms, "Arwen it's okay, it's okay." Max reassured her, "he killed you." She cried at Nancy, "that's what he wanted you to think Arwen, I'm right here." Nancy explained, "what about the others?" Arwen sobbed, "they're all here too, you've been here for two weeks, we all have. We're all safe." Max said but Arwen didn't look convinced, "why are my arms like this?" She moved the duvet to reveal her legs in casts too, "and my legs?!" She panicked, "you don't remember?" Nancy questioned, "they were fine when-" she started but stopped herself to think about the last two weeks, "when what?!" Max pressed on, "I've been here for two weeks?" They both nodded, "this- this doesn't make sense." She nodded her head, letting tears fall down her face, "I was in the upside down."

"Arwen you've been here the whole time. He made you see all of those things...we were both at the snowball and he got us both but you almost-"Max explained, seeing if it would prompt any recollection of what happened, "El saved you."

"You broke your arm." Arwen pointed to Max's cast, completely ignoring what Max had told her, "I fell. It's not important right now though. Do you remember El saving you?" Max asked, "El's dead." Arwen's voice broke, "she's not- she's...El is here, we're all here." Nancy said, "I'm going to get a doctor okay?"

Nancy quickly left the room leaving Max alone with Arwen, she couldn't stop staring at the girl she thought she had lost forever, "I thought you were gone." Max spoke under her breath, trying to hide all the pain she was feeling. Arwen waking up this time didn't make her want to stop breathing any less, she felt complete guilt and hurt, "It shouldn't have been you." Arwen said knowing exactly what Max was thinking, "stop thinking it-"

Arwen abruptly got cut off by Nancy walking in with the doctor who rushed over to check her, "Max please could you step aside whilst I check her vitals." The doctor said gently, "I need you to answer some questions for me Arwen, okay?" The doctor spoke to a dazed Arwen whilst Nancy and Max stepped back, both nervously chewing down on their nails until the doctor walked back over to them, "is she- is she okay?" Nancy hesitantly asked.

"It's very common for car crash victims to be jittery for a while, she seems very dazed so we'll have to keep checking up on that but with the trauma she's experienced, we want to put her into immediate therapy. Now...physically, it's a miracle that she can see or even move. She will have to stay here for a few more days for observation." The doctor explained, when they brought Arwen into the hospital they had to lie about what really happened for obvious reasons, "I'm going to give Arwen her medication then let her mom know that she's awake."

"Arwen." The doctor walked back over to the bed with some medication, "I need you to take these, I'll be back to check on you at five." Arwen nodded before the doctor left the room.

"Arwen, honey." Rachel rushed in with tears streaming down her face, Arwen widened her eyes as Rachel came to her side, "go away." She whispered, suddenly catching Max and Nancy off guard, "Wennie-"

"Go away!" She repeated, screaming this time, "hey it's okay." Max came to her side, "get out!" Arwen screamed again as Rachel looked between Max, Nancy and the doctor, "maybe you should step out, she's under a lot of stress and we don't want to make it worse." The doctor explained, "you left me!" Arwen cried, "you could've gone just like dad." She said and Max instantly understood, "I didn't-" she started but Arwen turned to Max, burying her face in her shoulder quickly letting out sobs. Rachel sighed before leaving the room, "I hate her for leaving." Arwen cried as Nancy joined her and Max on the hospital bed, rubbing her back.

"Where's the others?" Arwen asked a few minutes later, still not 100% convinced about them really being here but she needed to see for herself, "are you sure you want to see them?" Max questioned softly, "yeah."

"I'll get them." Nancy said.

As soon as the group walked in, flashes of horrible memories came flooding into her head,
"Robin! Please wake up. Robin! You can't go." She stared between Robin and Steve, "Arwen." Robin said making Arwen flinch, "you're okay." Robin let out with tears, she ran over and pulled her into a hug that Arwen was hesitant on, "you're real?" Arwen asked making her pull back, "of course-" Robin furrowed her eyebrows, Arwen then looked up at Steve who was trying to hide the fact that he was crying, "hey." His voice broke.

Arwen then looked towards Dustin and Eddie who were crying, "no, no, no stay awake okay? I need you to stay awake for me." A memory flashed before her, she squinted her eyes trying to make it go away but it was getting harder to not think about, "You see what's happened Arwen. This is all because of you...your friends are dead...because of you."

"Stop." She spoke with her eyes closed, "Arwen what's wrong?!" Max worriedly asked, she opened her eyes and stared at them all blankly, "why did you save me?" She suddenly asked El under her breath, "what?" El asked, coming over to her side, "I didn't want to be saved this time." She said loud enough for everyone to hear, "Arwen what are you saying?" Mike stepped forward but El put her arm out to stop it.

Max stayed in place with a completely shattered look on her face, realising that they weren't enough to save each other this time, they were broken beyond repair.

"I know what he made you see." El let out in a breathy voice, "okay? I saw everything." She placed her hand on Arwen's knee making her flinch, "I don't know w-what's real and what isn't." Arwen's breath hitched, "I thought you were all dead." She suddenly let out in a sob, "I- I had to watch it happen everyday I was in there." She sobbed even louder as they all watched in complete shock, "how am I supposed to carry on?!"

"Because we're all still here okay? We're here." Robin said, "are you? Or is it just another one of his tricks?" Arwen questioned, "I can't get the images of all of you out of my head and whenever I see you I just see that." All their hearts broke, none of them could imagine seeing what she had to.

"What about me?" Max suddenly asked with tears rolling down her cheeks, "do you see it when you look at me?" Arwen shook her head slowly, "Billy was walking towards you...It was in Starcourt and he started to-" her voice cracked, "strangle you but you're the- the only one who never died, the vision stopped before you did..." she explained, "exactly."

"What?" Arwen questioned, "that's what they were Arwen, visions...we're all alive." Max said but she wasn't believing it, "you almost died right in front of me. That was real...he almost killed you." Arwen was crying again, "Arwen he's dead...I killed him." El reassured her, "he's not." She cried, "he is Arwen." Nancy added.
