Chapter 48~ Into the upside down.

"It should've been you." Max stepped closer, "it should've been you instead of Billy. It should've been you instead of your dad. It should've been you instead of all those people that died." Max's words felt like daggers, they made Arwen want to stop breathing then and there, "stop!" Arwen screamed, "it's your turn now! It's your turn now Arwen!" She took another step back and suddenly felt herself falling.

Arwen slammed to the ground and gasped for air, she opened her eyes slowly and saw she was outside Victor creek's house, "Arwen?!" She heard a familiar voice shout before the sound of footsteps came charging towards her, "oh my god, get her up." Nancy panicked, "stay awake okay?!" Robin instructed as Arwen was still trying to get her breath back, "Arwen, look at me okay? How did you get here, what happened?" Nancy asked, "I don't-" she started coughing uncontrollably, "hey, hey it's okay, it's okay." Steve stroked her back, "I don't know..." she looked around, disoriented before widening her eyes, "the upside down." She let out, noticing all the vines.

"You don't remember getting here?!" Nancy questioned, exchanging worried looks with Robin and Steve, "no-" tears started spilling out her eyes, "I think- Max was...talking to me, she said it's my turn- it should've been me..." she said between sobs, "Vecna." Nancy confirmed.

"This was not part of the plan!" Robin freaked out, "what are we going to do?!"
"Okay- okay just let me think!" Nancy snapped, "Arwen." She suddenly looked around in fear, "what? What is it?!" She just about made out Steve's voice, there was a sudden high pitch noise in her ear and everything sounded muffled.

"I really shouldn't take credit for what Max said. Maybe I should have picked her instead of you." Arwen's breath hitched, "maybe she has what it takes." The voice carried on, "I have to say, I'm disappointed. We could have made a great team...look at what you've done. This could have all gone away. But now...I have to kill your friends. And then...It's your turn." That last sentence suddenly made Arwen remember who she was fighting for, she wasn't going to let him in her head anymore.

Before she knew it, her surroundings had changed. Steve, Robin and Nancy were no longer there but she wasn't alone. Arwen looked over to the door of the house and saw Vecna walking out slowly. She managed to pull herself up and reach out her hand to use her powers, "Arwen what are you doing?" He blocked his hand in the way of her powers then used his, making her fall back down. She stared down at the ground, trying to catch her breath back before putting both of her arms out and screaming, it was enough to throw him back.

She closed her eyes tightly and thought about what to do next but when she opened them, she was somewhere new.
