27. 𝑪𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒔.

Chapter 27~ Cabin repairs.

𝙅𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝟏𝟓𝙩𝙝

"I'm going to stay at my own house tonight." Max walked into Arwen's room with a worried look on her face, "what? Are you sure?" She hesitantly nodded her head, "has your mom asked you to go back?"

"No I just feel like I'm putting you out, you know, I don't live here." She explained, Arwen instantly came to Max's side and put her arms around her, "you are not putting me out Max, my mom is always happy for you to stay here and I don't know if it's such a good idea for you to go back into that environment."

"I know but I have to see my mom..."
"I understand love it's okay, just call me tonight so I know everything's okay." She leaned in for a kiss and helped Max pack up a couple things, "can I take one of your t shirts with me?" Max looked down blushing making Arwen smile, "of course."

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞

After Max had left, Arwen's walkie talkie went off with Dustin telling her that they were fixing up El and Hopper's cabin today.

She quickly changed and got on her bike, riding along her street, when she rode past Max's house she quickly stopped her bike thinking she heard something, suddenly a door slammed followed by her step dad shouting, Arwen didn't know wether she should knock on the door or not so she stood next to her bike for a few seconds thinking until the front door opened followed by Max stood in the porch staring at Arwen who dropped her bike and ran to her, she was hesitant to walk right up to her but Max abruptly burst into tears, "Max-"
"you were right." She cried and stepped closer to Arwen who already had her arms out for her, "what happened Max?" She whispered, "they- as soon as I got in they were shouting at me about not being here and calling- me useless and-" she tried to explain between sobs, Arwen gently rubbed her back and gradually stepped closer away from her house with Max in her arms, "they were packing up his room and I think they're getting divorced."

"Oh Max-" Arwen pulled away to look at her girlfriend in the eyes, wiping the tears off her cheeks, "I'm so sorry, what- is there anything I can do?" Arwen asked, feeling helpless, "I just need you to be here and hold me please." She let out, "always."

After a few minutes, Arwen felt Max calm down in her arms, "do you want to come with me to help fix up El's cabin, it will help take your mind off things and the party want to see you Max." She nodded her head and slowly got on the back of Arwen's bike.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞

Once they arrived at the cabin everyone was already at work, Arwen's mom was helping Joyce and Hopper pick up bits of wood whilst El and the boys were sweeping up glass and broken bits of furniture, "I'm so sorry this happened to your home El." Arwen walked over to her, "it's okay." She gave a small smile that Arwen knew she was faking, "I'm sorry I can't stop thinking about what you told me the other day, you're the one who taught me how to use my powers and now you can't even use them yourself."

"Arwen stop. I saved you okay? You think I want powers over you?"

"Wait you lost your powers?" Max overheard and walked over, "why didn't you tell me?" She turned to Arwen who looked down sadly, "because of everything going on...It didn't seem like the right time."

"I wish everyone would stop treating me like I'm going to break any second!" Max snapped before stormed off.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞

Arwen carried on clearing up the floor, occasionally wincing in pain from her leg and stomach, she knelt across the floor then noticed which part of the cabin she was in, she stared up at the roof and froze, remembering that night. "Are you okay?" Mike asked, she put on a fake smile and nodded her head, "hey if you look carefully you can see a chunk of my leg over there." She laughed, "I know you're joking about this but you don't have to pretend you're fine just because of what happened with Max." He whispered, "okay, it's not exactly easy being here after what happened. There feelings have been shared." She shrugged and pursed her lips, "Arwen you need to come and take your meds honey." Rachel called over, interrupting her and Mike's conversation, "we'll talk later." He said, "yeah we know how well that went last time." She scoffed, "hey I thought we were cool about that."
"Cool?! How could I be cool with that Mike? I can't even tell my girlfriend about it, have you told El?"

"There hasn't been a good time to do it yet." He rolled his eyes, "Arwen your pills." Rachel stood with them in her hand, Arwen glared at Mike before making her way over with Max behind, "is the pain really bad today?" Max asked once Rachel had walked away, "just a lot." She let out a pained laugh and took the pills, "I'm sorry and I'm also sorry about snapping earlier, I get why you didn't tell me, I haven't exactly been present recently."

"Don't apologise or blame yourself." She moved a strand of hair out of Max's face, "I love you."
"I love you too." She smiled.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞

"Hey Arwen can you help me over here?" Will called her over, she kissed Max on the forehead before going over to him, "what's going on with you and Mike?" Arwen sighed and stepped closer to him, looking around to make sure no one could hear, "he kissed me." She admitted, watching Will's eyes widen, "he what?!" He shouted causing Arwen's hand to cover his mouth, "shhh." She looked around to make sure no one heard, "he what?" Will said quieter this time, "he kissed me." Arwen repeated, "what? When? Oh my god do El and Max know?!" He questioned, "that day we were at Mikes and he asked to speak to me. He started crying about how bad he's treated us then he kissed me, I pulled away and told him to tell El and that's what our argument was about today, he still hasn't told her and I obviously can't tell Max because of everything else that's going on."

"Holy shit. El will be heartbroken, I can't believe he did that, did it mean anything?"

"No!...well he said it didn't and I know she'll be heartbroken, I feel awful."

"Okay it's not your fault Wen, just wait it out it's his mistake-" Will suddenly got cut off by Max and Lucas singing very loudly.

"Turn around, look at what you see in her face, the mirror of your dream. Rhymes that keep their secrets will unfold behind the clouds."
Arwen watched Max laughing and singing with Lucas whilst brushing up stuff from the floor, she looked happy for the first time since it happened, "wait did we get that verse right? It's unfold behind the clouds?" Dustin looked at the two completely fed up, "yeah. But you're butchering it so could you please stop."

"Oh come on dustybun." Lucas smirked, "yeah come on dustybun why don't you join us?" Arwen laughed at her girlfriend, "you guys are so funny you should be on Carson." Dustin said sarcastically, rolling his eyes, "can't we just hear your rendition?" Max asked, "no."

"Please just one verse." She jokingly begged, "no! No way, it's reserved for Suzie's ears and Suzie's ears alone." Dustin spat out, Lucas and Max faced each other again and smirked, "turn around, look at what you see, in her face the mirror of your dream." They sung again as Dustin flipped them off.
