Chapter 67~ Billy?

"Where the hell have you been?!" Arwen heard echo through her house once she returned from Max's house. Arwen tried to walk as quietly as she could so he wouldn't hear her but it was no use, "I said where the hell have you been?!" He repeated, "mom?" Arwen whispered when suddenly Jesse was stood right in front of her with a beer in his hand, instantly making her gasp, "why do you need your mom for?! I'm your dad and I'm asking you where the hell have you been?" He spat, "dad- I didn't hear you I'm sor-"

"Don't lie to me!" He shouted making Arwen gasp again, "I wasn't- I." Jesse suddenly threw his hand forward, slapping her across the face making her wince in the process. She was now leaning over, holding her cheek in pain, "I'm sorry." She cried, "look at me!" He threw the beer bottle on the floor and grabbed her face so she was looking at him, "I was worried sick Wennie." His facial expressions softened. This is how it always went, he would lash out, say all these things when he had been drinking then instantly feel bad or not remember it in the morning and Arwen found herself forgiving him every time, she hated herself for it. "You know I love you, I just want you to be safe." He pulled her in for a hug.

"What are you smiling at?" Max walked into the kitchen, pulling Arwen out of her thoughts, "oh nothing." Arwen grinned, "uh huh." Max smiled back, "you ready to go skating?" She asked, "first time since my bones snapped, yep." Arwen let out a laugh as Max jokingly rolled her eyes.

"How are you still better than me?" Max folded her arms whilst Arwen skated along the road, "because you're ginger." Arwen smirked, "wasn't one of the first things you said to me 'I love your hair.' Something along those lines?" Max grinned, "doesn't sound like me." Arwen turned away and began skating again.

"Do you ever think about what it would be like to get in a car crash?" Arwen suddenly asked making Max furrow her eyebrows, "what?" She laughed, "do you ever think about what it would be like to get in a car crash?" Arwen repeated, "yeah I heard the first time Wen, why are you asking?" Max questioned, "I don't know, just curious." She shrugged, "you're weird." Max smirked and playfully shoved her before turning her head to the other side of the street.

"What are you looking at?" Arwen glanced over in the same direction as Max, "that guy-" she mumbled making Arwen more confused, "he looks like..." Max carried on and Arwen suddenly realised what she was meaning, "Max, it's just someone that looks like-"

"Billy-" Max suddenly said, "Max it's not-" Arwen quickly cut her off as the guy turned around and revealed that it wasn't Billy, "sorry...we uh thought you were someone else." Arwen said as he turned back around and carried on walking, "I'm sorry- It just looked like him." Max explained, "it's okay Max." Arwen placed a comforting arm around her.

"Looks like it's going to rain." Arwen said after a few moments, "oh." She then let out making Max look up, "oh my god-"

The sky was shielded over with clouds and what looked like red thunder coming in close. Arwen could suddenly feel Max's breath getting heavier, "Max, it's just thunder-"

"You can't tell me you're not thinking the same thing." Max returned, "of course I think the same thing after what we've been through, it's obviously going to be a little alarming but I'm sure it's nothing Max." Arwen reassured her then looked up at the sky again, "see it's already clearing up." She said causing Max to let out a sigh, "yeah- I'm just paranoid." Max shook her head.

"Everything's fine." Arwen whispered with a smile on her face.
