El had been in the bathroom for over an hour after they had gotten back from Heather's house whilst Max and Arwen laid in bed completely silent, "is everything alright in there El?" Max called, a few seconds later they heard the lock turn and El walked out still looking worried, "hey- there's nothing to worry about anymore okay?"
"It doesn't make sense." El walked over to the bed, getting under the covers, "what doesn't make sense?" Max questioned, "Heather. The blood, the ice." El took a deep breath.
"Heather had a fever so she took a cold bath but she's better now- what do you think about this Arwen." Max looked over to Arwen who was staring into space, "Arwen?" She snapped out of it and placed her hand on Arwens shoulder, following her wandering eyes, "are you okay?" She sighed, "I don't know Max all of this weird to me aswell- I mean Billy was acting like a completely different person and Heather being ill still doesn't explain the blood on her whistle."
"Okay I know it seems weird but there's gotta be a reason for it and he was only acting like that because he was having dinner with her parents." Max defended him for some reason.
"And does Billy seem like the kind of person to sit down and have a meal with people?" Arwen questioned, Max didn't even bother answering, she knew they both had a point but didn't want to believe he was capable of doing something to someone, "look I'm sorry Max but I'm not going to sit here and defend him after everything, I only care about my friends safely and yours." She looked between Max and El.

"It's Lucas, do you copy? This is Lucas, do you copy? I repeat, this is a code red! Max! Do you copy? This. Is. A. Code. Red." Max picked up the walkie talkie off her floor and huffed.
"Shut. Up." She pushed down the antenna and turned back around to see Arwen was awake too, she placed her arm around her waist and they both closed their eyes again only for the telephone to ring a few seconds later, this time waking El up too, "oh you've got to be kidding me." She got up and stormed over to the phone, "I'm sleeping go away!" She went to put the phone down but quickly stopped, placing it back up to her ear.

"I didn't think it was anything at first. I mean, I think I just didn't wanna believe it. The first time I felt it was at day of the dead." Will explained as the group sat around Mike's basement, "power went out that night too." Mike interjected, Max kept a close eye on Arwen who was unusually quiet.
"Then I felt it again at the field near the Nelson farm the next day, then again yesterday at castle Byers, it's like everything inside my body is just sinking all at once but this is worse. It's like everything goes cold and I can't breathe." Everyone watched him explain, taking in all the worrying details, "I felt it before, whenever he was close."
"Whenever who was close?" Max asked, furrowing her eyebrows, "the mindflayer." Will admitted, Arwen suddenly went pale which Max immediately noticed along with everyone else.
"Arwen?" She looked up at everyone with tears in her eyes and ran to the bathroom with Max running after her, throwing up as soon as she reached the toilet, Max held her hair back and glanced at the others who were stood outside worrying about her.
"It always starts like this-" Arwen sobbed once she had thrown up anything she had eaten in the last twenty four hours, Max flushed the toilet and got her a glass of water, "It's like- it's like every year now we're waiting for the news- for one of us to say that it's starting again." Arwen cried, desperately trying to catch her breathe.
