"So Arwen, we are happy to discharge you from the hospital today. We just need to make sure your casts are ready to be removed and once your mom has signed some papers you're free to go." The doctor said the words Arwen was dreading to hear, they had spoken to her previously about what would happen after she was discharged, like, therapy, physical therapy, regular checkups but she wasn't ready to leave the comforts of her hospital bed, she wasn't ready to go back to school and she wasn't ready to pretend everything was normal, "it's only been a month since it happened...are you sure she'll be okay to walk?" Max asked with concern, "she may need the wheelchair for a few days after we've removed the casts but it should all be okay. Yours is ready to be removed too Max." The doctor smiled at both of them.

"Okay girls, we are okay to remove your casts." Doctor Evans said once Max and Arwen had both been checked over, Arwen had doubts that she would even be able to walk and Max didn't say it but Arwen knew she was thinking the same thing.

"So how are you feeling about being discharged Arwen?" Doctor Evans made small talk whilst she began removing the casts from her arms, "okay." She shrugged, "well we'll certainly miss you around here." She smiled but Arwen knew it was just small talk, she wasn't even awake most of the time she was here so it was total bull, "okay first cast is off, can you try moving it a little?"

Arwen did as she was told and tried moving it slowly before letting out a wince causing Max to instinctively place a hand on her leg, "you're doing really well, we'll give you some pain meds before you leave today." She said, "they don't help." Arwen mumbled under her breathe only loud enough for Max to hear, "okay leg casts now, these may be a bit more painful." She warned making Arwen sigh.

"Looks like I'm not going to be able to skateboard for a while." Arwen weakly laughed which was like music to Max's ears, considering she had barely spoken in days, "give it about two weeks." The doctor said, "I'll skateboard for the both of us." Max smiled.

"Okay all of the casts are off, how does it feel?"she asked, "like they're still broken." Arwen replied bluntly, "it takes some adjusting, now we're going to see if you can walk okay on them. Since you haven't walked in a while I'm going to hold your arms, Max could you help too?" Max nodded her head and they both stood up in front of Arwen to hold her arms, she slowly edged towards the end of the bed and tried to stand up, "put a little pressure on them Arwen." The doctor instructed but she was hesitant, "hey, you'll be okay, I've got you." Max reassured her, "I can't."Arwen cried, "you can." Max said and Arwen finally placed her feet down, putting a little weight on them, "you've got this Wen." Max kept repeating as Arwen was now on her feet fully stood up, she shakily stepped her foot out and carefully walked with the help of Max and Doctor Evans, "I can't go any further." Arwen stated, the doctor quickly grabbed a chair for her to sit in, "you did really well Arwen. For today I'm going to give you a wheelchair then you can use crutches before you feel okay about walking." She explained and Arwen nodded her head.

"Max I want to do a checkup on you before you leave." The doctor walked to the corner of the room with Max, away from Arwen, "we want to offer you therapy too." Doctor Evans spoke quietly to her, Max glanced over at Arwen who was observing her arms and legs, "thanks but I don't need it."She replied bluntly, "Max, we really advise it." She pressed on, "I know but I don't need it." Max started to get annoyed, it was reminding her of Ms. Kelley always going on, "please think about it atleast." She smiled, "will do." Max pursed her lips, she still had no intent on going to therapy again.
