69. 𝑯𝒆'𝒔 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌.

Chapter 69~ He's back.

"Can we talk about what the hell just happened?" Max practically pulled at her hair as her and Arwen were sat on the kitchen island, "talk about what?" Arwen asked nonchalantly, "Arwen, we can't just act like that didn't happen." Max pressed on, "I don't know what you're talking about Max." She flashed her a fake smile to which Max huffed and walked over to the tv remote, "okay then maybe this." She turned the tv onto a news channel, "will refresh your memory."

Eighteen year old, Chrissy Cunningham who was thought to be deceased was found at Hawkins high pep rally earlier today. Scared students fled from the gymnasium and Chrissy is now nowhere to be found, police however have sent out search parties to find the teen along with the further searches for Jason Carver. Town residents are speculating on wether this was all planned with her boyfriend, Jason.

"Why is the tv on mute?" Arwen battered her eyelids innocently, "Arwen!" Max lashed out and turned the tv off, "now is not the time to act like this!"

"Look, Max we don't even know if that was actually Chrissy, we both saw her dead body." Arwen argued, "I know you don't want this to be true but this is the reality of it Arwen, you can't just check out now. It's happening." Max raised her voice, being extremely annoyed with Arwen now, "It's been happening since I was eleven years old Max!" She suddenly shouted, "Eleven! It hasn't stopped fucking happening!" Arwen carried on when the doorbell all of a sudden rang, interrupting her, "ugh I swear to god if that's Mike! I'm not in the mood." Arwen stormed along the hallway with Max following closely behind.

She huffed before opening the door when she nearly fell back into Max who suddenly went pale, "Hi honey." Arwen slowly stepped back, completely in shock, "hey Maxine." Their voices rang through the girls heads, "do you see them too?" Max slowly asked, not taking her eyes off them, "yeah." Arwen whispered, "okay-" Max replied with a heavy breath, "run." She let out, nodding her head, Arwen nodded along before they ran down the hall into the kitchen grabbing their Walkmans and rushed out of the back door, choosing Mike's house as their destination, "come back!" They heard the voices shout in a playful voice from back in the house.

"Where's Rachel?!" Max shouted as they ran across the streets of Hawkins that had many people freaking out and protesting, "I don't know!" Arwen yelled back.

Max and Arwen eventually made their way through the town chaos and arrived at Mike's house. They knocked multiple times, "we knew you would be back-" Mike said after opening the door but quickly stopped talking after seeing the looks on their faces, "what happened?"

The party were all gathered in his basement around the table, anticipating what Max and Arwen were going to tell them, "So um- Billy and Jesse just knocked on Arwen's front door." Max let out, immediately receiving shocked looks from the group, "what?!" Dustin, Lucas and Will said in unison, "what the hell are you talking about?!" Mike asked, "is this a joke?" El questioned, "it's not a joke." Arwen replied, "it was like what happened with Chrissy-" Max carried on, "well we don't even know what that was." Lucas argued, "it was Chrissy coming back from the dead." Will raised his voice, "okay- what? So people that got killed by Vecna are just coming back?" Lucas questioned, "but Billy and Jesse didn't get killed by Vecna." El chimed in, "okay but demodogs and the mindflayers were created by him." Dustin asserted, "okay so what exactly are we saying?" Lucas asked, "that he's still here?"

"I killed him." El proclaimed, "exactly." Arwen agreed with El but Max knew it was only because she didn't want to think about anything else, she was in shock, "but- I mean when you closed the gate the first time they still managed to find a way in Hawkins." Mike argued, "that was different Mike, a part of the mindflayer was trapped inside of Will." Arwen replied, "this is different than closeting a gate Mike...I killed the source, there's no part of him trapped out here anymore-" El explained making Arwen purse her lips.

El was suddenly cut off by a loud screeching noise outside causing them to all turn their heads with widened eyes and heavy breaths, "Is that what I think it is?" Max let out, "no- no it can't be." Lucas whispered.

"Where's the others?" Arwen panicked, "they're at Steve's." Mike replied, "we need to get them now." Arwen said.

"Agreed." Dustin said as they all nodded their heads, "the towns in chaos." Max stated, "well obviously." Mike snapped, "hey!" Arwen glared at him, "so we can't just walk out there." Max carried on, "what do you suggest we do then?" Mike replied, "I know." Arwen stood up.
