Chapter 23~ The battle of Starcourt.

Tw- absolute gut wrenching heartbreak 😊

Arwen carried on screaming for pain whilst grabbing Max's hand, "what is that?" Erica winced at Arwen's leg which had something moving around in it, "there's something in there!" Mike said, "Jesus Christ." Dustin put his hand over his mouth, Jonathon stood up and ran over to one of the food places, "keep her awake okay? Keep her talking." Arwen's hand slowly let go of Max's as her eyes were starting to get heavy, "hey, hey stay awake okay?" Max grabbed onto her hand again and squeezed in gently until Arwen's eyes opened again, "get her on her side." Mike suggested, they all helped move her onto Max's lap as Jonathon came back over with a knife, "okay Arwen, this is gonna hurt like hell okay?"

"Okay." She replied, crying. Jonathon put his hands in some gloves then handed Arwen a wooden spoon to bite down on, he put the knife up to the wound then looked at everyone to make sure he should, "do it." Mike said, "okay." He mumbled before finally going in with the knife followed by screams from Arwen, he put his fingers in the cut trying to get the creature out causing everyone's mouths to open in complete shock, Max held onto her as tightly as possible, trying not to cry at how much pain her girlfriend was in, "Jonathon!" Nancy yelled, "stop talking!"
He carried on digging his fingers through the wound until Arwen shook her head. "No! Stop it! Stop it!! Stop! Stop!" She screamed but Jonathon wasn't listening, Nancy finally pushed him back making him stop, "I can do it." Arwen let out a high pitch cry, completely exhausted, "I can do it." She panted then put arm out to her leg, "god!" She groaned using all of the energy she had left to take this thing out of her leg, Arwen carried on, letting out a loud scream causing the stores window behind them to smash, the group quickly moved out of the way from the window, Arwen finally got the creature out of her leg and held it in the air before throwing it across the mall.
It crawled along the floor before being stood on, they all looked up to see Hopper, Joyce, Rachel and Murray. Arwen was the last to look up and see her mom, "mom." She cried, Rachel ran over to her and hugged her tightly letting out sighs of relief, "I'm so sorry for what happened before." Arwen started, the rest of the group went over to the other adults to give Arwen and her mom space, "baby I only care about you right now, I should be the one apologising for just leaving like that and now you're hurt." She kissed Arwen's forehead, "I'm fine mom. I just wish you didn't leave." She panted.

"I know honey but I'm so proud of you for handling things here, you're so brave."

"The mindflayer, it built this monster in Hawkins, to stop El and Arwen, to kill them and pave a way into our world." Mike started explaining as they were all stood around the fountain, Arwen was laying on her mom who had a cold cloth to her head, Max glanced over at her girlfriend feeling horrible about what happened to her, she looked completely exhausted and ill, "And it almost did. That was just one tiny piece of it." Nancy carried on, "how big is it?" Hopper asked, "it's big. Thirty feet at least." Jonathon murmured, "yeah." Lucas agreed, "It sorta destroyed your cabin." He grinned but Hopper looked unamused, "sorry." He said awkwardly.
"Okay so just to be clear, this big fleshy spider thing that hurt Arwen, it's some kind of gigantic...weapon?" Steve asked, "but instead of, like, screws and metal, the mindflayer made its weapon with melted people."

"Yes, exactly." Nancy replied like it was completely normal, although it sorta had become like the new normal for them, "yeah, okay, I was just making sure."

"Are we sure this thing is still out there, still alive?" Joyce questioned, "El and Arwen beat the shit out of it, but, yeah, it's still alive."
"That's my girl." Hopper and Rachel said in unison.

"If we close the gate again, we cut the brain off the body and kill it." Will explained.
"Yoohoo!" A sudden voice made the group turn their heads to see Murray rushing towards them flapping papers in his hand, "yoohoo!"
