41. 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔.

Chapter 41~ Cursed visions.

The sun was setting as the group trekked through the woods. Arwen was way behind because she still found it hard to walk long distances after the mindflayer used her leg as a snack last summer, Eddie turned around and quickly noticed how far behind she was, "hey, Arwen uh, can I talk to you?" He asked, now walking next to her, "sure." She gave him a smile, "so what's up with uh Harrington?"

"What do you mean?" She furrowed her eyebrows, "just...he's always been sort of known for being this confident guy, you know, always around girls but he's like way different than I imagined." Eddie explained, "oh believe me, we were all just as surprised as you are." She laughed, "he's still obsessed with women though, I suppose that's only been put aside these last few days because of this whole monster killing teens thing." Arwen explained, though, she couldn't help but notice Eddie's mood change, "right, of course. He's not with Robin then?" He asked making Arwen laugh even harder, "Robin's like super gay."

"What about Nancy?" Eddie questioned, "I don't know if Nancy's gay-" Arwen started, quickly getting cut off by Eddie, "I meant is she with Steve?" Her eyes widened, "ohhh no, they ended a long time ago, why do you ask-"

"Arwen!" Max called from ahead, "sorry, we'll finish this conversation later." Arwen ran over to Max as Eddie watched Steve and Robin talking.

"Hi love." Arwen came up to Max's side and kissed her, "are you okay?" She asked, noticing the look on Max's face, "did you start smoking after what I said?" She abruptly asked making Arwen soften her facial expression, "Max-"
"Arwen please don't be nice to me right now, I don't deserve it. Can you just- answer the question." She sighed, "yes...I did." Arwen admitted, "but I don't anymore okay? Of course I still think about what you said but it's over now."
"Or do we just have bigger things to worry about?" Max questioned, taking Arwen aback, "would you have forgiven me if this wasn't all happening again...if we weren't both cursed?" Arwen had never actually thought about that, she had been so focused on everything happening that what Max said didn't feel like that big of a deal anymore, "honestly, I don't know but that doesn't change the fact that I love you and I trust you...and I know you didn't mean it."

"I didn't mean it but I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you..." Max stopped and took Arwen's hands in her, "the rest of your life?" Arwen questioned, not acknowledging anything else she had said, "I know that I will never love anyone the way I love you...and I know that no one will ever love me the way you do. I want to be with you for the rest of my life Arwen." Max spoke through tears, Arwen let out a sob and pulled Max in for a passionate kiss, "you're my everything Max."

"Dustin? Can you slow down? Dustin." The girls heard Eddie shout from ahead, suddenly they all started running to the opening of a lake, "looks like we're running now." Arwen grabbed Max's hand, "watch your step big guy." Eddie stopped Dustin from falling into the lake, "oh, man. You gotta be shitting me." Steve let out, "yep, I thought these woods looked familiar." Eddie replied, "Lover's lake."

"This is confounding." Dustin whispered, "there's a gate at Lover's Lake?" Max questioned, "whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way." Nancy stated, looking at the group, "yeah, only one way to find out." They rushed over to the a boat and pulled the tarp off, "easy. I...I said easy, man." Steve said, trying pushing the boat into the water by himself, "sorry, dude."

"I'm just gonna do that." Robin grabbed onto their heads and climbed into the boat, Max quickly nudged Arwen and pointed towards Nancy who was checking her out, making them both laugh, "so gay." They whispered in unison, "Wheeler." Eddie smiled and took Nancy's hand, next Dustin tried to get in but Eddie pushed his head, "hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us? This thing holds three people tops, okay?"

"It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max and Arwen. Keep an eye out for trouble." Nancy said, "you keep an eye out." He scoffed in response, "it's my goddamn theory."

"You heard Nance." Robin stated, "who put her in charge?" Dustin questioned, "I did." She replied, Arwen nudged Max this time and smirked, "oh Nance, please order people around more, it's so hot when you're in control." Arwen quietly mimicked, "what if it was just us two in this boat Nance? We could really make some waves out on the water." Max joined in, "what are you guys laughing at?" Lucas asked, "nothing!" They said at the same time.

"Bedtimes at nine kiddos." Robin yelled as the older teens took off in the boat, "awe come here Dustin." Arwen opened up her arms for him, "they're such assholes." He groaned, "oh I know. The biggest assholes." She replied in a baby voice which Max found amusing, "miss you already!" Robin waved, "homo!" Arwen yelled back.

"Whoa, whoa wait." Lucas grabbed Dustins attention as he looked through the binoculars at the boat, "they're stopping. What are they stopping for?" Lucas questioned, Dustin grabbed his walkie, "guys, what's going on? Come on guys talk to me, what's going on?"
"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital ahhh!" Robin replied.

"Ugh when'd Steve get so hairy?" Lucas squirmed, "right?" Dustin agreed, "I keep telling him he needs to tame that jungle but he claims the ladies dig it."

"Let me see." Arwen walked forward and grabbed the binoculars off Lucas, "Arwen!" Max said, wide mouthed, "not for that reason! I'm testing a theory of my own." She looked at him for a few minutes with no word, "oh yeah, he's checking him out."
"You're talking about Eddie right?" Dustin asked, "wait you caught onto that too?" Arwen grinned, "well yeah, it's like the most obvious thing."

"Why is Steve going in?" Lucas questioned, "well someone has to check." Dustin replied, "yeah I know but don't you think it's a little dangerous?"
"Eh he'll be fine. You know if there's actually a gate down there, it's technically a water gate." Dustin randomly said, receiving uninterested looks from Max and Lucas, "water gate." He laughed, "come on you find it funny right, Arwen?" He turned around to her, "Arwen? Arwen." She stood facing the other way, now catching Max and Luca's attention, "Arwen!" They ran over to her, "Arwen, come on." She wasn't responsive, her eyes suddenly started flickering back revealing the whites of her eyes, "oh my god!" They all waved their hands in front of her face trying to snap her out of the trance, "her music! Turn her walkman on now!" Lucas instructed, Max quickly put it on as Dustin pulled out his walkie, "we have a code red! A code red!" He shouted into it but no one answered, he looked over and saw the older teens freaking out in the boat, "uh, guys!" Dustin hit Luca's arm who looked over and saw, "what is going on?!" "Arwen you gotta wake up!" Max shook her shoulders, "fight this, you have to fight this!" She repeated, "Nancy just jumped into the water after him!" Lucas yelled, "come on Arwen!" Max said a last time before she opened her eyes and let out a loud gasp, "holy shit." Dustin said, "oh my god, thank god." Max let out a breath of relief as Arwen panted with her hands on her knees, "it's okay, it's okay."

Once Arwen's breath had steadied, she fell into Max's arms and started crying, "what did you see?" Lucas asked, "not now Lucas." Max replied as Arwen was crying even harder.

"Shit, shit down." Lucas whispered suddenly seeing the flashing lights through the trees, they all ducked down behind a tree and peeked over to see where they were, "it was on the shoreline." They heard someone say, "cops. Shit, shit, shit."
"We can't let em find Eddie." Lucas stated, Max looked down and saw Arwen's eyes starting to close, "hey, stay awake okay?" Arwen nodded her head, "I'm tired." She let out, "I know, we will get you back to Mike's as soon as possible but right now we have to deal with this."

"Hey officers." Max yelled and stood up, "over here! I found the killer! This way!" She grabbed their attention as the boys swore under their breaths. All of a sudden, Max started running, the boys helped Arwen up and ran behind her.
They kept on running until Dustin fell over, they turned back and saw the cops had a hold of him, "hey there."
