35. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐.

Chapter 35~ The Monster and the Superhero.

After the group had caught up with Eddie, they had agreed to come back in the morning to see him. Meanwhile, Steve dropped everyone off leaving Max and Arwen alone on their street, "What?" Max asked as Arwen was stood staring at her, "Why the hell did you kiss me last night?!" she hissed, "why the hell did you kiss Lucas?" She retaliated, "because we're not dating anymore, Max!"

"Thank god. I mean- look at what you did to El. You kissed her boyfriend after she saved you and she lost her powers over it." She scoffed, folding her arms, "I didn't kiss him! And what the hell are you saying?"

"She lost her powers to save you...I wonder if it was worth it?"Arwen suddenly felt her stomach drop at Max's words, "you're joking..." tears started to fill her eyes as she looked at Max in disbelief but there was no sign of instant regret in her eyes, "that is the worst thing you have ever said to me." She let out a sob, causing her voice to crack, "because I told El about Mike kissing me that means she should have chosen her powers over bringing me back to life?" She asked but Max started walking away, "don't you dare walk away from me! Max!" She screamed, "what the fuck." she cried, trying not to fall to the floor, "Max!"

𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝟐𝟔𝙩𝙝

"Jesus!" Eddie jumped as the group opened the door with a bunch of grocery bags, "delivery service." Dustin smiled and held up a bag. The group walked in and sat around Eddie who instantly grabbed a box of cereal, "so we got some, uh, some good news and some bad news, how do you prefer it?" Dustin asked, "bad news first." Eddie replied with a mouth full of cereal, "always."

"Alright. Bad news, we tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our cerebro and they're definitely looking for you. Also, they're, uh, pretty convinced that you killed Chrissy."

"Like 100% kind of convinced." Max chimed in, earning a glare from Arwen who had gotten no sleep over what Max said to her the night before, "and the good news?" He asked, "your name hasn't gone public yet, but if we found out about you, it's a matter of time before others do." Robin stated, playing with her rings, "and once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning for you."

"Hunt the freak right?" Eddie said, "exactly."
"So before that happens, all we gotta do is find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence." Dustin explained, "that's all Dustin? That's all?"

"Yeah, no, that's pretty much it." He replied in a high pitched voice, "listen, Eddie, I know everything that Dustin is saying is delusional but we're used to it, they've been through it a...a few times and- and I have once, mine was more human-flesh based and theirs was more smoke-related but bottom line is, collectively, I really feel we got this." Robin smiled enthusiastically, when police sirens suddenly sounded outside, "shit." Steve panicked along with everyone else, "tarp." Robin pointed to it, "tarp, tarp." Eddie laid back in the boat and pulled the tarp over him whilst the rest of the group rushed over to look out the window and saw not only cop cars but ambulances which was an instant cause for concern.

Without hesitation the group decided to follow the cop cars to wherever they were going. When they got to the destination they saw Nancy talking to a police office, laying eyes on them, her eyes suddenly had relief written all over them, they all got out of the car and Nancy gave them a small wave.

"So you're saying that this thing that killed Fred and Chrissy- It's from the upside down?" Nancy asked after the group had explained what was going on to her, "If the shoe fits." Steve replied earning a look from Arwen, "what?"
"what- you never heard that expression?" Steve asked, "no- I mean I've heard it but- it just sounds kinda stupid in this context-"
