Chapter 58~ Charity event.

"With recent events that have struck our town once again, we are holding a charity event tomorrow where you can support the families that have lost loved ones." Officer Powell explained on yet another news channel, "this is such bull." Max scoffed, changing the channel.

"We're still going." Nancy had been convincing her of it all morning which made Max roll her eyes more, "another family outing." Robin jokingly said, "shut up plus you're gay." Max replied, "it's Nancy's fault." She smirked as Nancy went bright red, "I don't understand why we're going." Max carried on protesting, "it's just going to be a bunch of assholes who have no idea about what really happened." She said, looking down at Arwen, "we're going to see if there's anymore news about Jason." Nancy replied, "that's what the news is for."

The party and older teens minus Eddie arrived at the charity event with skeptical faces, "this is ridiculous." Max crossed her arms, glancing over all the stalls and people, "what are they trying to do with this? Oh we're sorry your kids are dead have a cupcake." Steve mocked earning a glare from Max, "sorry." He pursed his lips, "I miss Arwen's sarcastic comments." Dustin stated, "oh she would have some things to say about this." Will laughed, "what the hell is happening over there?" Erica pointed to huddle of people holding up banners and signs, "angry hicks." Robin laughed.

"Find Jason. Save our kids. Find Jason. Save our kids." The group of people held up signs with Jason's face on that had crosses through the middle, "he's a murderer!" One shouted, "he needs to be locked up!" Another one yelled.

"This is bad." Dustin stated, earning confused looks from the group, "you guys remember he didn't actually do this right? It was that freakish, one-arm-longer than the other freak." He said, "okay? But he's the reason Arwen's in a coma." Lucas argued, "exactly. So what if he didn't do it? He's an asshole and Eddie's not being accused anymore." Max added, "where do you even think he is?" Dustin asked, "who knows." Lucas replied, he was the last to see him but even he had no idea.

"Hey." A couple awkwardly walked up to the group, they all shared looks before the couple carried on, "we would just like to apologise on behalf of the town...we were so quick to assume it was Eddie, when the real problem was right in front of us." They said, referring to Jason, "oh that poor boy, could you pass on our apology and let him know that we're all rooting for his speedy recovery." They smiled before walking away, "what the hell." Mike furrowed his eyebrows, "well that was odd." Lucas stated, they all nodded in agreement.

"What do they think happened to Eddie?" Dustin asked, "they think Jason stabbed him." Steve said bluntly making Nancy and Robin burst out laughing, "I'm sorry the way- the way you said that." Robin couldn't even get her sentence out, "really wasn't that funny." Steve shrugged, "no it was." Nancy laughed.

"What's so funny?" A familiar voice asked from behind, they turned around slowly to see Hopper, Joyce and Rachel stood in front of them, "oh my god mom!" Jonathon and Will ran up to Joyce whilst the others looked relieved, "Rachel." Max rushed over to her, "where have you been?!" Max tried to hide the anger in her voice, "we-"

"Where's El?" She got cut off by Hop, "she's with Arwen..." Max quietly replied, "where's Arwen?" Their faces suddenly changed remembering Rachel had no idea, she grew more panicked after no one answered her question, "where is my daughter?!" She repeated herself, "we've been trying to contact you all for days. A lot has changed." Nancy explained.

They explained everything that had happened to the adults and Rachel was left in tears, immediately wanting to go to the hospital.

Once they got back Rachel ran into Arwen's hospital room whilst the others stayed in the hall, wanting to give her space.

"I missed you today." Max randomly heard from down the hall, she turned her head and saw Lydia , "there was some stupid charity event thing." Max rolled her eyes, "I heard about that...do you wanna go talk somewhere?" Lydia asked, Max nodded her head as she led the way to an empty hallway, "the whole thing was such bullshit I mean what the hell, teenagers start dying in Hawkins and they decide to hold a charity event which was basically a festival." Max ranted, "sorry." She finished realising she was going on, "don't apologise." Lydia laughed, "it's cute." She smiled, "hardly." Max jokingly rolled her eyes, "you may seem all tough and sarcastic on the outside but I see right through you." Lydia grinned, "oh yeah?" Max challenged, "mhm."
"Well what do you see?" She questioned, "I'm not giving it away that easily." They both laughed but got cut off by someone clearing their throat behind them, "Max, Rachel wants you." Mike said bluntly.
