"Rory, Tori?" Mom shouts from upstairs.

I had Mia and Rory had Charlie. The girls were now 3 days old.

"Living room." I yell back, still a bit quiet due to the girls.

"I need your advice on something." Mom comes down the stairs with a newspaper on her head, like a veil. "What do you think?"

"Huh." Rory thinks

"Not good?" Mom asks

"I'm not sure. Have you tried the arts and leisure section?" I joke

"I need you to be serious." Mom tells us

"You're wearing a newspaper on your head." Rory points out

"I know."

"And we should be serious?" I question

"I am trying to figure out veil lengths here." Mom explains

"Oh, sure."

"See, I Kind of Like this shoulder length kind of semi poofy think like this, but there's also a longer one that might be interesting." Mom continues

"Longer - sure." Rory says

"And then there's the full on Diana, which is nice, but it just might be a little-" mom stops as she sees Rory looking at the newspaper. "You're reading me."

"Wait, don't move." Rory commands

"Rory, stop it."

"This arms race things is really getting crazy."

"I'm trying to have a serious conversation about the most important fashion decision of my life." Mom tells us as Mia starts to cry. "Here. I'll take her." Mom takes her and rocks her side to side. She calms down really quickly.

"Why don't you go to a wedding dress place and try a real veil on?" I suggest

"No way." Mom states

"Why?" Rory questions

"Too much taffeta - gives me cotillion flashbacks." Mom explains

"Okay, fine. Could you bend over so I can see what the weathers like?" Rory asks

"Actually... I went in one of those places yesterday." Mom admits as she sits down.

"You did? Which one?" I exclaim

"Marry MeMe's"

"I see you are going top of the line." Rory comments

"It's was horrible. Apparently, you're supposed to order your wedding dress the first day of junior high, and if you haven't, it's off the rack for you, missy. I tried on three different dresses, on of which gave me a rash. And I have got to say, has anyone missed the bustle? Cause I haven't." Mom begins

"It's not that bad."

"I'm gonna be gross, and all the children will laugh, and max will realize he's made a horrible mistake, and then people will walk away, exactly what you're doing now." Mom continues as Rory walks away. Mom following her too.

"Let's go." Rory demands

"Where?" Mom asks

"Wedding dress shopping." Rory answers

"Ohhh, you're reading." Mom makes up an excuse.

"I'm done."

"Uh, you need to see Dean." Mom continues making up excuses.

"He's playing softball." Rory replies

"Tori needs help with the girls."

"They are both fast asleep." Rory points to the girls fast asleep on me.
