In chemistry, I sit next to my girls and today wasn't all that interesting with Miss Prescott. After that, we went to the cafeteria to spend our break there. We all usually stay inside because of the cold, but we can also go outside if we want. It's always the younger classes who always throw a snowball fight or the smokers.
Laura and Sydney are one of those smokers.
Sydney sometimes gets caught by the teachers along with other people, but Laura is the only one who has never been caught. Not even once. Or at least not yet and no one knows how that's possible, besides us.
All 6 of us sat down together at one table and started talking.
"So Tricia, do you know when you're getting your replacements yet?" Asked Sasha.
"No, not yet. But I might see Axel again today." I answered.
"But seriously, are you really getting those for free?" Asked Dave.
"Yeah! Axel said he does it for those who can't afford it n' stuff." I answered again.
"Man, that Axel guy is totally based." Dave said and Jack nodded without any emotion.
"Dude, you should've seen that guy." Ray said.
"He doesn't have any arms himself! Just two balls that float around him." Ray added.
"Drako, you gotta rephrase that before I say something." Dave laughed.
"Ugh, Dave!" Laura spoke.
We all laughed and Laura banged her head against the table.
"Spheres! I meant, spheres!" Ray corrected herself, still laughing.
"You guys are the fucking worst." Laura said with her head still on the table.
Jack smiled slightly.
He doesn't really show emotions or talk much. Except around us, he talks and laughs more around us than anyone else. And we value that.
"There are more important questions to ask our fellow survivor." Laura sat up straight again.
"Oh, yeah? Like what?" Dave giggled.
"How was your meeting with the Queen?" Laura smirked at Dave. His smile faded.
"You met the Queen..?" He asked, completely flabbergasted.
"Dude, Sasha literally told us that yesterday at the park." Jack said, with his deep and calm voice a usual.
"Really?!" Dave asked.
"Yeah, man, didn't you listen to me?" Sasha accused him.
"Well, it was pretty ok, actually. She was nice." I answered before Dave had to answer Sasha.
"But, why were you called there in the first place?" Dave asked.
"Alright guys, before you scream it, you must promise to keep this a secret." I said.
"Is it bad?" Ray asked.
"I promise, Tricia." Laura said.
"Us too, don't worry." Sasha said and Jack nodded.
"Ok... uh.." I leaned over the table and whispered:
"She's kinda my grandma."
"WHAT?!" They all screamed and I hit the table with my chin.
And with that, the bell rang. All of them were shocked and paralyzed.
"G-guys?"
I looked at them, but this reaction was expected. I got up and took my bag. It took them 2 solid seconds to react. They got up as well eventually and caught up to me.
"W-wait, so like-" Sasha started.
"YOU GUYS ARE RELATED?!" Dave interrupted him as we walked to our next class.
"Well, not genetically. She's my moms mom." I said.
"But.. doesn't that make ya like, y'know-"
"-a Royal?" Ray whispered the last part since were in a hallway full of people.
"That's why I want y'all to keep this between us. I don't officially clarify as a member of that, but that's because I don't want to just yet." I said.
"Why?" Jack asked.
"Look, I don't need more attention than I already have for being physically disabled and having my mom, who's famous pronounced dead." I explained.
"I bet I was on TV while I was still in the hospital or before I even woke up." I added.
"You're not wrong. You even made it in the newspapers, front page." Sasha said.
"Mhm, my father held a speech at the church in the name of those who suffered the worst and even mentioned you and your mom specifically." Laura said.
"Oooooh God..." I whined.
