"Brrr!" I felt slightly breezy as the snow crunched below my feet. It's probably because I'm only wearing a shirt.

I swung the trash bag over my right shoulder and made myself a blue flame in my one and only hand.

"Ah, that's better!" I said with a satisfied smile.

"Hm, it's nice and warm here on your head." Darkness commented.

"You don't say? I have fire powers, you silly blob." I chuckled.

"I should go outside with you more often." He said.

I laughed.

Soon enough, we made it to Ray's house. The sun is setting. Her dad was outside chopping some logs with his axe to burn in a fireplace. I kindly greeted him but didn't approach him. He nodded and continued to work. I rang the door bell and I could hear Ray excitedly speeding downstairs to the door.

"NYA-HA HA!" She yelled as the door swung open.

She's dressed as a vampire! With fangs, claws and everything!

Ray gasped very dramatically.

"OH MY GOD! YER COSTUME LOOKS SO REAL!" She exclaimed.

"You look like an actual zombie without yer arm n' eye!" She complemented.

"Hehe, thanks! Your costume looks sick too. Are those your real teeth and claws?" I asked.

"Yeah! I thought I'd show off some of my dragon nature." She scratched the back of her head.

"Come in! My pops will take us to the city in a sec." She welcomed me inside.

I used the doormat at the entrance and stepped inside. The inside is pretty much what you expect of a small countryside house.

Whenever Ray mentions that her dad will drive her to the city, I remember that she lives like a few kilometers away from our school. Technically, her dad could bring her all the way to school each morning. However, Ray chooses to only be brought to the city. Me and Laura confronted her about that before because we didn't really understand why she wouldn't want to be brought directly to school. Ray just said that she liked walking with us to school.

We find that cute.

Ray's dad walked in and looked at us silently. Ray instantly knew what he meant. Like they were actually related and spoke telepathically.

"Cmon! It's time to get goin'." Ray said and pulled me through the front door.

We got into her dad's car, which is a dusty and rather old looking. I sat in the back and Ray joined me. We sat on a crocheted blanked that was covering the back seats. Ray and I kept chatting about what candy we wanted to get and what we had organized for Laura's party as we drove to the city. That's when Ray caught me off guard by suddenly speaking German.

"Denkst du Laura wird etwas gegen die Jungs haben?"
(Do ya think Laura will have somethin' against the boys?) She asked.

"Was meinst du?"
(What do you mean?) I asked back.

"Naja, Laura's Bruder war ja ein Mann. Denkst du das wird Einfluss darauf haben wie sie Jack und Dave sehen wird?"
(Well, Laura's brother was a man. Do ya think that it'll affect the way she'll see Jack and Dave?) Ray asked.

"...Ehrlich gesagt hab ich nie darüber nachgedacht. Aber wenn du es jetzt erwähnst kann es durchaus möglich sein."
(...Honestly, I've never thought about that. But when you mention it, it could be pretty possible.) I answered.

"Ich weiß, ich hab auch nicht wirklich dran gedacht bis Laura sich die ganze Zeit neben uns gesetzt hat in der Schule."
(I know, I haven't thought of it either until Laura kept sittin' next to us at school.)

"Hat sie das? Ich hab das nicht mitbekommen. ."
(Did she? I didn't notice that..) I said.

I'm sure the boys would be understanding if Laura felt a bit uncomfortable around them. Now that I think about it, I don't think she spoke a single word with any of them besides in the last days of school when she was present again. As much as she and I would like her to just get over it, I don't think it will be that easy. Even if the changes are mild, they could become bigger and worse and affect her everyday life even more. I can only speak from experience as someone who had ptsd before.

It's only been a couple of days since I murdered her brother after all..
