After me and Darkness cleaned everything up, we returned downstairs with me carrying him like the cat he destined himself to be. Scarlet was in the kitchen having a slice of the cake. She seems to really enjoy it.

"Tricia, this cake is wonderful! Thanks for leaving some!" She said with the plate and fork in her hand.

"No problem. Thank you for enabling this for me. We had a great time up there." I replied.

She giggled.

"You should get ready for bed. It's getting late and you seem to have a lot of work to do with all that makeup on you!" She said.

I agreed and set Darkness on the couch. I removed almost all the makeup on my body with a strong makeup remover and then took a shower. I came out in my pyjamas and before I could head to my room, Scarlet stopped me.

"Hey, I heard a few days ago that you seemed to have had trouble brushing your hair in the morning. I looked up a few ways on how to make this easier and I think I found something!" Scarlet suggested.

"Oh? What's that?" I tillted my head.

"Can I braid your hair?" She smiled at me all cutesy with a brush and a tie in her hands.

I can't possibly say no to that.

We sat down on the couch with Darkness and she began to brush through my hair before dividing it into 3 strands.

"You know, I never had the chance to tell you this, but.." I started as she braided my hair.

"Thank you for being there for me. It's tough without my mom around. I hope I'm not too much of a burden." I said.

"Oh, you have nothing to worry about. You're not a burden to me at all!" She said.

"But, do you think about your mom a lot?" She asked.

"How can I not? She was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and now it all fell apart. I try to act normal so I can function, but either people bring it up or I see something that reminds me of her. Especially when my grandmother says to just get over it. It hurts, you know? So, thank you for being so nice to me." I answered.

"Don't worry. Whenever you need someone to talk to, then you can always come to me. I understand what it's like to lose someone important to you." She said.

"I will." I smiled.

"Aaaaaand done! I hope this works. I'm not really an expert on hair." She scratched her head.

"Eh, it worth a shot." I shrugged.

I don't know what inspired me to do this, but before going to bed, I gave her a hug. She hugged me back and I took Darkness to my room. It's winter break now. I should consider training again to catch up with the others. Then, an idea came to my head.

"Darkness? Do you wanna come to training with me tomorrow?" I asked as he laid beside me on my bed.

"Why? Do you not feel safe after what happened tonight?" He asked.

"Not really, but I was wondering since you liked the city at night. Why not also see it during the day?" I suggested.

"Hm, I guess I can come with you." He said.

I petted him.

"Then, with that being said, good night." I turned to my side and went to sleep.

In the morning, I woke up without an alarm. In fact, I slept longer. I slept until 9 AM. I got up and wanted to get breakfast when I was greeted with no one to be found.

Where's Scarlet? Usually, she would be sitting in the kitchen doing the dishes or something. Darkness was also a little confused by this. I decided to eat some breakfast and brush it off. Maybe she just is elsewhere in the castle? It's a castle, after all. There's a lot of places where you can be.

After eating, I got ready for the day and Darkness morphed into a blob and hid under my hat again. We left the castle for the arena where I'm going to start training again.
