I woke up with white hair and black skin and horns on my head. This is my demon form. Millions of lanterns hang from the sky of the pitch black dimension. I got up and looked around. I have both arms and eyes here. Sweet.
"Welcome to the Deep Dark, Miss Crossed out." Darkness spoke from behind me.
I turned around and he looked down at me in his tall demon form.
"Oh, hi Dark- what the hell? Why do I sound so different?!" I said.
"Right, you never actually spoke here in the Deep Dark yet. Your voice never changes down here. It will always be the same from when you were alive." He explained, forming a bored expression on his face. He then gazed down at me with big round eyes again.
"I see... I already forgot what I sounded like.. Where were you anyway?" I asked.
"I was busy preparing something very important." He said and stepped closer.
"When you were taken away, I wanted to find you, but I found something else that should come to your attention as well." He added.
"What's that?" I asked, tilting my head.
"I found out that the child of the king of The Kingdom of Light has been given the role of the God of Light." Darkness said.
I gasped. That's our greatest enemy! The Kingdom of Light!
"I saw it with my own eyes. However, I don't know who that was because their whole head was covered." He said.
How unfortunate.
And now you might be wondering what this has to do with you." He said. I nodded.
"To make a long story short, a God isn't just one person. They may look the same or similar throughout the decades, but they aren't always the same person." He explained.
"I don't-"
"Yes, I know. You can ask questions when I'm done." He said rather sassy.
"The God of Darkness, for example, is being chosen by me. The first ever demon to exist. I'm basically the caretaker of this dimension. However, there are rules that the God must strictly follow. Otherwise, I will have to take that role from them and give them to someone else who is worthy." He explained to me.
"And since the princess or prince of The Kingdom of Light is a God and you are technically the princess of Truelania, I thought it would only make sense to give you the roll." He said and shrug.
"W-what?!" I yeleped.
"Well, I mean, you already passed the test with the question I left you in your room. Your answer is a very valid one, I must say." He said, summoning the note into his hand that I answered earlier and showed it to me.
"Seriously..? This is what it takes? A single and basic question?!" I yelled.
"Oh? And what were you expecting, huh?" He asked and put the note away behind his back as if he had a pocket there and leaned down to me. His chains rattled.
"I dunno a challenge! A challenge to prove your worth!" I yelled angrily.
"Hm... Ok. You want a challenge? I'll give you a challenge." He said plainly.
He stood up straight as his chains chimed. His eyes stared at me widely as his pupils slightly changed. I think I know where this is going.
It's time to battle to the rythm!
"Huff... huff.." I panted.
"My, my. You barely missed any notes. See, this was pointless." He said, crossing his arms.
I rolled my eyes.
"Now, do you accept this role Patricia Crossed out? For a greater future?" He asked in a serious tone.
"Yes, I accept it." I said proudly with a hand on my chest.
"Good because I definitely wasn't giving you a choice." He said and snapped his fingers.
My eyes snapped open as my alarm rang to school. I jumped out of bed and there was a note on my desk.
Read quickly
Dear Miss Crossed out,
Thank you for your decision to take on the role of the new God of Darkness. However, this role is not without duties and rules and, therefore, potentially life-threatening risks. When taking on this big responsebility, there will be a lot of changes in your life both on the inside and outside.
Please follow the following rules:
Keep your everyday identity a secret. No one can know you are the God of Darkness.
Your God name is Dark Matter, so call yourself that when you're in your God form.
Do NOT abuse your position and power.
Do NOT make up stories or events that never happened to praise the religion.
Do NOT abuse or be unfriendly to the demons and dead and innocent people.
You must fulfill the following duties:
Take care of the center of the Deep Dark. (plants, builds, lanterns, etc.)
People die every day and I decide whether or not they should get a second chance. You must check if my decisions were correct by checking the lanterns that hang from the sky.
Read people's prayers and answer or fulfill them at your own will every day.
If you do not follow these rules or fulfill your duties, then there will be serious consequences that can go from a harmless warning to taking your life and giving your new role to someone more worthy. You will see small changes in your appearance over time that won't affect you or your life.
Sincerely
Darkness
'I have a lot of questions, but this seems simple enough, I guess?' I thought to myself and after I finished reading it a second time, the note dissolved in my hands.
