My grandmother looked at the cat for a moment. She can easily tell that this is no ordinary cat.

"How did this stray get in here?" She asked.

"I'm not sure... but wouldn't it be cruel to just throw it back outside? In this winter?" I asked

"And what are YOU suggesting that we do with it?" She asked. She's very skeptical.

"Why don't we keep it? As like our pet." I answered.

By the looks of her, I expected a very strict denial. However..

"Very well. But it's not OURS. It's YOURS and you will have to take care of it by yourself, which means feed it, clean it and the list goes on." She explained.

"Deal!" I charmed.

"Oh, and please don't use that teenage language on me and call me grandmother." She said with a stern smile.

"Ah, y-yes, of course. I apologize." I smiled awkwardly.

She gave me a side stare before leaving. She didn't even have to tell me that I should come downstairs. That was enough by itself. I picked up the cat and went back to my room. I set it on my left side of my bed and sat on the opposite side as it stared at me.

"Soooooooo... what are you exactly?" I asked it.

The dark cat shape-shifted back into its original tall form. It sighed in relief.

"Thank the stars that worked. I really thought we were gonna get caught." It said.

"Honestly, me too. Your shape-shifting was a smart move." I said.

"You played along very well, too." It said, looking at me.

"Thanks, but seriously, what and who are you?" I giggled.

"Right, how rude of me." It facepalmed.

"They call me Darkness, I'm the first and oldest dark demon to ever exist." It explained.

"Oooo cool!" I responded.

"I don't usually ask such questions, but do you use pronouns?" I had to ask this question. Calling the demon an 'it' is kinda weird now.

"Indeed. I use male pronouns." He answered.

"Ah, good to know Darkness." I smiled.

"But enough about me. Let's talk about you. Why did you summon me?" He tilted his head.

"Ok, listen, you know how I want to rescue my mom?" I started.

"Of course, that's why I granted you immortality." He replied.

"Yes, ok, listen, I know you've already given me a lot. You resurrected me twice, gave me immortality and turned me into a demon...

but I was hoping that maybe you could... help me?" I added.

"What exactly are you insinuating?" He raises an eyebrow.

"Look, a lot has been going on here lately. Ever since my moms gone, the Hero agency has been falling apart. Mainly because many of them are traitors."

"Now that's a big problem. Because my original plan was to ask them for help and now I can forget about it .Not to mention, without the agency, the crime rates might even triple and damage our empire in every way!"

"And who knows what else has changed that just isn't shown on the media!" I explained to him.

"You're right. Without the heroes, this land is as good as done for. Perhaps I have underestimated the worst that can happen." Darkness said, scratching his chin and looking at the ceiling.

"The worst that can happen?" I asked.

"Shape-shifting isn't my only power. I can also look into the future and see the endless possibilities of what can happen. I granted you immortality to be able to survive basically anything, but I suppose that isn't enough." He explained to me.

"Wait, were you able to predict the incident and did nothing about it?" I got serious.

"I was, but to your information, the chance of your mother being defeated was very low and even if it was high, I wouldn't be able to do anything about it because I don't have access here to the overworld. That is unless someone summons me like you just did." He explained once more.

I frowned.

"I guess there was nothing we could've done about it..."
