When we arrived. The arena was empty. I guess I probably should've texted Miss Yami or something. But this won't stop me! There's plenty of things I can do!
I teleported my axe into my hand and looked around.
Hmmmm, what could I do with it?
Ah! There are a few targets put up for people to try and shoot the middle. Maybe I can try axe throwing...
I took out my phone and looked up on the internet how people do it. I then tried to replicate it.
I stood a little further away from the round target and raised my axe behind my head. I then swung once in front of me without letting go as a test. I then focused harder and threw it hard.
Damn! I may not have hit the middle, but it's a start! I can work with this.
I continued throwing my axe at the target with a few comments from Darkness on how I could improve.
"You should hold your axe at a different angle. Further behind you." He said.
"Like this?" I tillted it closer to by back.
"Yes. Now aim and throw." He commanded.
After a short moment of me thinking I once again threw it and it was closer to the middle and deeper in the target.
After some time, I decided it would be good to return home. I was starting to get hungry. As I walked with Darkness on my head, we passed by a small boutique. It had a black dress in the window. It's very simple. The length is just obove the knee, short sleeves that don't go over the shoulder... and all that for the price of 35 peris and a pair of black heels with it?! THAT'S LIKE FOR FREE! I MUST HAVE IT!
I practically ran inside to get the dress and heels. I can only imagine Darkness's remorse.
I walked satisfied with a bag where my dress and heels were in and 35 peris less in my wallet.
"Please... never do that again.." Darkness cried.
I only chuckled. As we arrived home, I found my grandmother unexpectedly waiting for me in the living room. After I set my stuff down in my room along with Darkness. I came back to her.
"Patricia darling! Why don't we have lunch together. Just you and your grandmother, hm?" She smiled at me. It rubs me the wrong way.
"Sure.. I was getting hungry, actually." I scratched my head and forced a smile back.
She guided me to the dining room and we sat at the table again. It feels so wrong to be back here with her at this table as if nothing happened. She hasn't acknowledged me for weeks. Why now?
The food was brought in, which was fish. The fish was whole with fins and head. It stares at me... We ate in silence. The only thing that could be heard are the utensils hitting the plates. This is so uncomfortable. It's like you're held at gunpoint. It didn't help that it was darker than usual here.
I ate slower than normal today. I don't really like baked fish unless it's fish sticks. My grandmother therefore finished before me. She stared at me with a look as if she was going to say something but was waiting for something.
"You know, a lot was going on here while you were away without telling me again." She said slowly outlining the rim of her glass with her finger.
"Really?" I asked cautiously as I continued eating.
"Yes, there was a tragedy today. At least for you, probably. I never really liked Scarlet." She said, resting her elbow on the table in a casual manner, sipping wine from her wine glass.
My fork clattered against the plate as I was about to take another bite.
"Wh.. What do you mean?" I tried to keep my composure.
"Scarlet was found dead today. Poor girl must've gotten distracted by something stupid like her. She couldn't even focus on her own life and be serious for once." She complained.
I could only look into the dead eyes of the remaining fish on my plate as I let my fork leave my hand completely.
"Like seriously, she was so annoying with that smile on her face all the time." She finished her wine and got up.
"Alright, I'm finished. Don't let your fish get cold." She clapped twice as a waiter retrieved her plate back to the kitchen.
She then left me in the room without looking back as I still sat there shocked. Holding my breath without realizing.
...
Scarlet.. is dead..?
...
I guess I didn't buy the dress for no reason now...
