As me and Truelania were walking away from the orphanage, everyone else was heading back inside. I still can't believe it that Truelania decided to adopt me. Why? Why me out of all the other children? There were better children to choose from than me. It doesn't make sense to me. She is the number 1 hero of this nation and yet she chose me, a completely normal child with nothing special to show off at all. I guess I should ask her about it later.

We were walking along the road while she was still holding my hand and smiling softly, which made me feel a warmth in my heart. We then turned around a corner into a small neighborhood that had tall pastel colored apartment blocks with flat roofs that looked like piano keys and tall poles that looked like the bow of a violin that had colorfull music note fairylights tied to them to resemble street lights, it's a late evening and the sun is setting which makes them look gorgeous. It is a perfect place for music lovers to live and it honestly amazed me since there were no such beautiful places on earth like this. The road soon ended at a dead end and Truelania stopped in front of a purple car that looked like an expensive german mercedes just with a different logo on the front and took out her car keys.

"Come on, Tricia! Let's drive to your new home!" she said while being very excided.

I smiled a little and nodded my head, got into the car and sat behind her. The car looked even cooler from the inside. It had a desing that reminded of a fancy limousine in black, pinkish wine red and gold with magenta LEDs on the ceiling. Truelania then started the car that was like expected very quiet and drove out of the musical neighborhood and drove around town for a little until we reached the highway.

"So sweetheart how are you feeling right now?" she asked to start a conversation while looking at me through the rearview mirror.

"Sorry, what did you call me.?"

"Sweetheart! Can I not call you that?" she joked.

"No no, It's just that.. no one has ever called me that before."

"Really? I guess I can be a proud first to do that then! ha ha! Didn't your old parents ever give you any nicknames?"

"...no, not really. I don't really like to talk about my old parents. They weren't very.. good parents."

"Oh, I'm sorry I asked!" she said with a worried look on her face.

"Hey it's ok Truela- I mean.. mom.. If I can call you that now." I said smiling awkwardly.

"Of course you can call me mom silly! You're my daughter now, now that I adopted you!" she replied laughing.

"Yea I guess you're right. Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure, ask away!" she said smiling at me.

"Why exactly did you choose to adopt me? I mean there were so many other children to choose from!"

"Well, since the past 4 months I was dreaming about having a child of my own. But.. that's not really possible for me."

"Why is that?" I asked.

"You see.. I wasn't always a woman. I was actually born a boy."

"You're transgender!?"

"Not many people know about this, because I don't talk about it, but yes, I am and because my genitals are fake, it is not possible for me to get pregnant. So that is why I have been looking for a daughter to adopt."

"But, why me?"

"Since there are no children who look similar to me, I was judging children between the age of 10 to 14 by singing with them. I have been looking for a daughter around different orphanages for 3 months now and i never really felt a connection between me and other children. I was honestly giving my hopes up until I met you! The moment I sang with you was the moment I realized that you were the one that I wanted to take home and call a daughter of my own. I know it sounds kind of stupid, but yeah, that's the reason why."

"No, it's not stupid! You just listened to what your heart told you. And in this situation I think it's a good idea to do that." I said.

Mom looked at me once again through the mirror as we stopped at the traffic lights and a warm smile appeared on her face. After a moment the lights turned green and we continued to drive into a rather big city that looked magical, because it was dark outside now and the many lights of the buildings were glowing. 20 minutes later we arrived at my moms house, it was a cute, small, overgrown with flowered vines cottage house with a white roof and smooth pinkish red pastel walls. It kinda reminds me of a barn because of the paneling this house has. Seeing the house from the outside made me super excited to see the inside.
