The sombre day finally came: Nicholas' Funeral. We spared no expense in bringing his body back to Trinidad and organised with the church for a proper burial. It was 5am and I was at my mother's house. Namjoon knew I would've been busy with the preparations for the funeral so we opted to video chat after the service was finished. However he still called me this morning. He woke me up as it was earlier than we would normally talk but I felt so much better just hearing his voice,
.
"Hey baby. How you doing?" He asked sounding so filled with love that I almost burst into tears again. I missed him but I didn't want him to feel guilty.
.
"Much better now that I can hear your voice." Nice!
.
"Aww... It's nice to be heard. I know the funeral is at 10am but I sent something for you. Would you be able to go and collect it before the service?"
.
"Oh Namjoon, you know you don't have to..." I told him that but I knew he was feeling badly about being so far away from me so I thanked him, "But thank you, in advance for it."
.
"You're most welcome, honey," then he told me where and when to collect it. "Go to the courier service at your airport and tell them you've come to pick up the package from 'June Kimmy'."
.
I couldn't help but snicker, "June Kimmy? OMG! That's even better than Lola."
.
He laughed, "I actually forgot about that name. Next time I'll use that one."
.
"What time can I go to collect it?"
.
"Oh it's there already. I sent it since yesterday."
.
"Oh great. Well I know sometimes they take long to clear things so I'll go now and come back home to dress for the funeral." My face sulked but I know he couldn't see me.
.
"Oh baby, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers today."
.
Even though he couldn't see me, he knew I was crying. I thanked him and we ended the call. I pulled on a jeans and threw on a jacket to cover my thin strapped see-through vest. I basically just rolled off the bed and went to the airport to collect Namjoon's package. It was just like him to think of something thoughtful for me and my family during this time. Knowing him, it might've been a wooden sculpture of a wolf, Nicholas' favourite animal, or maybe a picture of my nephew in a frame. We had talked about things like that before and I realised now that he was trying to get ideas for a gift to send for me and my family.
.
Everyone was still asleep but I let my eldest sister, Lana know where I was going. I put on my jacket and headed down to the airport. It was still early 5:30am to be exact as I drove into the carpark. I entered the building and went to the courier services' counter. The place wasn't too busy but a flight had just arrived so there were some people around looking for food while others were waiting for their flights.
.
There were a few people waiting at the courier service line so I took out my headphones and began to sing. This time I sang softly and I smiled as I recalled the toilet line in Brazil. Those memories kept me going and I couldn't help but blush and smile while I sang. I saw a few people watching me and smiling and I blushed even more. Gosh Déjà vu all over again. In no time I reached the counter I asked them for the package.
