Linda's POV

Seeing everyone cry like that really broke my heart.

Mom cried until she fell asleep throughout the service. Daniel had eye bags under his eyes showing that he hasn't slept for couple of days. I still feel bad but there was nothing I could do.

Dad did as he had promised. Taking care of mom. Brandon looked hurt but at least he's getting married so he'll be fine.

He'll be happily married and forget that there was once a Linda in his life.

I'm sorry Casey.
When we were 16, Casey and I made a vow that when we die, we'll be buried next to each other. I laughed at the thought.

Daniel said we were crazy but he did fulfill the vow. He made sure I was 'buried' next to Casey.

I don't know how dad came up with this idea but it did work for me.

I'll always be there for them, whether they see me or not.

Dad organized a new fake passport and I now stay in Africa. Dad also made an account to send me some money without anyone being suspicious.

Seeing the video that dad sent me of my 'funeral' I bursted into tears.
.................

It has been three months after I faked my death.

I now work as a researcher for a local radio station and it is kinda of cool.

"Ms Franklin? You're needed at the office." Stefani the producer said.

I nodded. I can't believe dad gave me his surname.

Lydia Franklin.

"Ms Franklin. Please sit." Roman my radio station manager said.

I sat down feeling nervous.

"Don't be nervous. It's good news." He said and I sighed in relief. Roman is a father figure to me. He treats me like I'm his daughter. For a fifty year old man he looks like he's only reaching his forties.

"I've seen your work and I must say I'm impressed. So... How would you feel if you become our editor in chief." He said handing me a contract.

"Really!?" I screamed in excitement.

"It's all yours."

I screamed again shaking his hand.
"Thank you so much!"

"Keep up the good work Ms Franklin." He said taking a sip of his whiskey.

...................
I got into my two bedroom apartment reading my contract. My phone rang and I knew that it was dad.

"Hello."

"Congratulations Linda. You deserve it." Dad said sounding proud.

"Wait. How did you..."
"I have eyes and ears everywhere." He said and I rolled my eyes with a smile.

"Thanks dad. How's mom?"

"She's coping." I knew that she wasn't.

"I need to tell you something." That doesn't sound good.

"Your mother and I... We are.."

"You're what?" I asked impatiently.

"We're getting back together." I kept quiet for three minutes straight.

"Linda? Are you still there?" I coughed awkwardly before I answered.

"Yes. I'm still here. Well...uhmm.. that's great. I mean congratulations." I said not knowing what to say.

"Wait. What about Melissa?" I asked.

"She committed suicide the day I told her I want to get back with your mother."

"What! What about her kids?"

"Her kids are my kids. I'll never stop taking care of them." I hummed in response.

"Linda. You know you can come back home right?"

"I know but I love it here, and I've done so much." I said reasoning with him.

"Okay."

"Dad, even when I want to come home, mom still thinks I'm dead." I sighed after talking.

"I'll tell her. Promise to come home Linda."

"I promise."
Am I going to regret this promise?
