Sleep didn't come very easily for me, considering my stomach was still empty and knowing that something horrible was about to happen. Not exactly easy to sleep with that lodged in my mind.
I knew Kayla wasn't telling us the whole truth. She never did, anyway.
I agreed with Liam- if we were all still alive in the future, how was this about to be some "horrible disaster"? There was something more going on, and she wasn't telling us.
I rolled over on my stomach, looking up at the stars. God, I hated not knowing things.
"Marisa?" A voice called, and I turned my head to see Liam looking at me, flames from the fire reflecting in his eyes and making his brown orbs glow.
"Hey," I said, smiling at him. Harry had rolled over so he was facing the ocean, and by the way he was breathing I guessed he was sleeping. Kayla was curled up in a ball, and I had no idea if she was concious or not.
"So, you really don't know anything about this thing?" He asked, obviously still trying to figure it out.
"Honestly, I would've told you, I promise," I confirmed. "Liam, try not to worry about it. If.... if it happens, I don't think there could be anything that could change that. We can't change something that is going to happen."
Liam looked up at the sky before turning back to me, letting out a heavy breath. "You mean, you believe in fate?"
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. Do you?"
Liam shrugged. "I don't know. I think that if you know something is about to happen then you could be able to stop it if you really tried."
I nodded, running my hands together.
"But I do think that it's fate that I met you," He said, then awkwardly added. "Oh, and Kayla...."
I smiled at him. "Me too."
"Will you stop being so god dang romantic and sleep?" Kayla groaned, obviously awake.
Liam and I grinned at each other before rolling over and I finally started to close my eyes, replaying what Liam had just said to me.
I heard muffled voices when I started to wake up again.
"God damn, could you go any slower? Hurry, before the other ones wake up!" The voice was unrecognizable, deep and rushed.
A muffled scream came from nearby.
"Shut that girl up!" The same voice said, and my eyes sprang open when I heard a hard object hit someone.
The scene was unbareable. Kayla and Harry were hung from their wrists on parallel trees, duct tape covering their mouths. Kayla was awake, a panicked, pained look on her face, and it was obvious one of the men just hit her. Harry was starting to come to as well, and Liam...... oh, Liam.
He was hung up next to me, still asleep, like nothing was wrong. I didn't want him to wake up, I didn't want him to see this horrible scene. His head was bobbed down, his growing-out hair covering his closed eyes.
The main man was huge, and he looked a lot like Quad. He had dark hair, hazel eyes, and buldging muscles, covered in many, many menacing tattoos. He even had a slight scar on his face- like an everyday bad guy in those story books. He had two assistants, one of them quite short and chubby with a beard who looked like he had a hangover, and the other one who was stick-straight with barely any muscles and very tall. They looked like a pirate crew, and I would've laughed at how they looked.... you know, if I wasn't chained to a tree.
"Oh, look, the little ones awake," The chubby man said.
"Who you callin little?" I asked.
He grimaced at me, and I closed my eyes to wait for a hit or a punch, but the main guy said, "Don't. We need them in good shape for the master."
