When it was morning, we ate some of the leftover fish that we had (I was sure we would all get sick from that later, at least me, with the most sensitive stomach ever) and gathered some more other food around the shore like berries and other fruit.
"I can't believe myself," I muttered as I picked some berries from a bush.
"Still sad about the fish?" Kayla asked.
"Yeahhh," I sighed.
She rolled her eyes and went back to picking. When we had a lot of food, we stored it in the small rowboat that had only drifted off a few meters away. We all stood in front of it, unsure what to do.
"We have to go somewhere," Harry told us. "The angels told us."
"But where?" I asked. "If we risk sailing away, there could be zero land for thousands of miles. We would be stranded."
"Or," Kayla said, "There could be land just a little while away."
"But if there's not," I objected, "We would be in the middle of the ocean and would DIEEEEEE."
"You're so dramatic," Kayla huffed, being quite dramatic herself.
"I think we should risk it," Liam added in, seeming to be pondering it. "I mean, we can't just stay here until more people come to try- and probably suceed- to kill us."
"THANK YOU Liam for agreeing with me," Kayla huffed.
Liam nodded, narrowing his eyes at Kayla. "I still don't like you."
"Yes you doooo," Kayla confirmed.
I decided to stay our of their feud and stay silent as we piled into the small boat. We had no idea where we were going, so Liam and Harry just started rowing us away from the tiny island.
"Byeee island," I said, waving.
Liam smiled at me and continued to row.
After a few hours, which mostly was spent sleeping, eating, or playing eye spye (that ended early, the only color around us was blue) Liam and Harry looked exhausted.
I bit my lip, starting to get worried. Maybe we should've stayed on the island. Liam was right, we couldn't just stay there forever until someone- probably bad- found us, but at least we weren't in the middle of possibly nowhere.
"We should take a break," I said to the boys, who graciously let go of the ores and rubbed their tired arms, breathing heavily.
"I think we're lost," Kayla blindly stated, yelling it to the world. Her voice echoed over the water and was carried over the waves.
"Oh, really?" Harry asked.
A cold, brisk air fell over us, and I breathed heavily, which revealed a layer of fog from my mouth.
"It's pretty cold," I shivered.
Liam looked pretty worried too. "Let's see what's in the emergency kit." He leaned over the seat and opened a hatch that was on the side of the boat, which had a giant, red, plastic kit inside of it. He set it down on the seat next to him and I helped him rummage through it. There were flares, some canned food, water, matches, a flashlight, a manual on how to survive, lifevests, and blankets.
"Gimme!" Kayla yelled, snatching the wool blanket from my hand.
I took out another one, wrapping it around my goosebump covered arms.
"Why is it so damn cold?" Harry muttered, grabbing a blanket himself and slowly rowing us forward, not wanting to stop. Luckilly, there were four blankets, so we could each at least be a little warmer. But not much. I still felt like I was covered in a thin layer of ice.
