SAPPHIRE

I ran as fast as I could to go to the only person I could talk to, Emily. I need to tell her so she can tell George. We need to keep Mila safe. She will have to help me. We have been hiding Mila from everyone, and now we have an asshole man whore as a mate.

I keep running, and I know Mila is trying to get through the block I put up, but I can't let her know who he is or anything.

I ran straight to Emily's house. I can smell cookies, and the door is open. I shift back into Mila's human form, but I stay upfront. Before I opened the door, Emily was standing there. She knows it was me.

"Sapphire, what's wrong? Why are you in human form and not Mila?" she says, worried.

"We got a man whore as a mate from that new pack, and they want to come here to see the town," I say with a growl.

Emily looks at me, stunned. "Mate, you found your mate. Sapphire, does Mila know?" She asks. I shake my head. "No, I was going to tell her until he spoke about bedding another woman and taking her as his mate instead of us. He doesn't care. Mila already hates wolves. He will make it worse to get her to like wolves again."

Emily looks stunned but shakes her head.

"We need to tell my dad. He needs to know. Can Mila hear us?" She asks, sounding really worried again. I shake my head. "No, I blocked her. I blocked the bond. She couldn't tell."

I am a powerful wolf, and Mila knows that, but I only gained a few powers I know to use. Only Emily knows the powers we have.

Emily thinks we should not tell George yet till we know what other powers we have. My powers are slowly coming in, and I think when Mila turns 18, which is in a few days, we will know more about what we can do.

I hate lying to Mila.

I don't want to lie, but the Moon Goddess told me to protect Mila at all costs. I don't know what happened to her. We both have no memories, but the Moon Goddess is wise. I trust her.

I look at Emily as she gets her mobile out to ring George. I can feel Mila trying to break through once again when she is on the phone telling him everything I mentioned. Emily gets off the phone, looks at me, and sighs. "Dad thinks we should keep it from Mila till she turns eighteen. As for the mate, he has been in a meeting with a few council members about the pack that moved in. He doesn't want them to come to the town as many supernatural beings hate wolves, but they are really considering it as it might help with the rogue situation. They seem to look for someone, but we have no clue about who they are looking for."

I sigh, acknowledging what she said. "I best let Mila come through. She has been trying to break through the barrier of the block I put up. I will tell her I hated what the man said about the whole mate thing, but I won't tell her he is our mate."

I close my eyes and let the barrier down for Mila to take over.

MILA

I open my eyes to find Emily smiling at me. The whole time Sapphire had me back in her head, I was in complete darkness.

"What the hell Sapphire? Why did you do that?" I ask more sharply than intended.

Sapphire stretches out her legs to lie in the back of my mind to get comfy. "That stupid male human got to me about mates. Mates are our soul mates who are hand-picked by the Moon Goddess herself. He was out of order, and I needed to get away. I am sorry about that, Mila. I needed to run. I have been on edge all morning, and for the last couple of days because of the lack of sleep you are having, too."
