MILA

We flew a fair distance but landed in another forest about a few miles away from the pack.

We both have been quiet, trying to figure out what to say or do.

Once we landed, I climbed off Drack and looked around the area while Archer shifted back into his human form.

"Little dove, we need to keep moving," says Archer in a softer voice. I turn to look at him and give him a small smile.

We walk through the forest and head to a human town.

Thoughts about leaving everyone behind fill my mind.

"Little dove, are you okay?" Archer asked quietly.

I stop in my tracks and look at him. "I'm ok. I just wanted to make sure everyone is ok. They were going into a war, and it was all about me," I say.

Archer says nothing but gives me a small smile.

He sighs. "I know, little dove, but we must get you safely. We need to have the element of surprise," he says.

We continued walking through the forest and kept silent. I was Archer hummed a little tone, which was slightly getting on my nerves.

We came to the border; I couldn't help sniff the air.

We are in a human town. I look at Archer, who has a blank expression on his face. "The war has begun, little dove," he says, and he turns to me. We should stay here for a little while just to rest, and I will grab us a few things from that store over there."

I say nothing but nod. Knowing that all my family, friends, and even my mate are at war right now has my stomach going around in knots. We head toward a motel where Archer asked for a room.

Once we were handed the keys and went inside, Archer drew the curtains and turned off the lights. Archer left me in the room while he went to the store to pick up some food and bits.

"You ok, Mila?" Asks Sapphire suddenly. She has been quiet the whole journey.

"I am," I say with a sigh. "I just wish we could find out how everyone is."

She nods at me as she lies back down in my head but looks at me. "How are you feeling, though?" she asks.

I stared for a moment as I felt numb, and the thought about our mate was getting harder for me to handle, so I ignored it for the time being.

"I'm okay, Sapphire, but I have to admit I am missing our mate," I said quietly, which made her lift her head up to look at me.

"You are coming around to the idea of being his mate," she says with a smile. "Mila, once we defeat the evil and rescue Lucas, maybe we can start working it out with mate."

I say nothing for a while, but I look towards the window and stand, pulling the curtain slightly open to see if Archer is on his way back. "Sapphire, do you think Nate would go with another woman when we are away?" I ask her.

Sapphire looks at me and smiles. "I think he has learned his lesson, Mila. He wants you, and I would imagine his wolf will have more say this time around," she says.

I should try not to think like that; maybe she's right. He has changed, but being apart will certainly test both of us, especially our mate, around other women.

Sapphire looks at me. "We need to find someone who can help you with your magic and help me, too," she says suddenly.

She's right; I can feel our magic swirling around me.

Right on cue, Archer walks in and smiles. "Burgers and soda, little dove," he says with a cheesy grin.

I smile back and nod.

We sit around the table and eat the burgers he got for us.

While we were eating, Archer grabbed a mobile phone.

I stare at him. "Why did you get that for?" I asked as I was about to sip my orange soda.

Archer looks at me and smiles. "Before I went into hibernation and also before I met you, little dove, I had many friends who would help me if needed. So I thought I would ring around and ask them for help finding Aria. Do you have that photo on you?" he asks.

I nod. I grabbed my bag and handed him the photo, and he had me take a photo of the woman in the background using the phone so he could send it to some of his friends.

We spent the next few hours in that room, Archer on the phone talking to many people, some in different languages. He was pacing the room, trying to get information and figure out where we were going next.

Sapphire and I slept for a little while, even though sleep was scarce, as we were worried about the pack and the war.

After his phone call, Archer turns to me and smiles. "We will leave soon, little dove," he says. "I have planned for us to fly in a private jet, and we are heading out of here."

I looked back at him, stunned, as I got off the bed; I had never been on a plane.

Archer looks at me. "What are you thinking, little dove?" he asks as he sits beside me on the bed.

I sigh. "How long do you think it will be until we return?" I ask him, turning to look at him.

He places his hand in mine and squeezes it gently. "I don't know, but we will be back soon," he says. He slowly gets up but turns to face me. "I will figure something out later once we are on the plane about finding out how everyone is after the war, but first, we are going to get ready to leave now," he says.

We both shrugged off our feelings and packed up the little we had left.

Archer grabs my hand and leads me out of the motel door.
